Live Thread: Lakers @ Cavs
2022-03-21Good evening CtB!
Tonight fans are in for a treat as the Cavs welcome home 2016 NBA Champion LeBron James to the shores of Lake Erie to battle with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavs are riding the high of their 3-1 home stand and will be looking to make it a clean 4-1. The Lakers are in freefall mode and are in danger of falling out of the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. It appears that LeBron is in record chasing mode though and he loves to get up for occasions such as these, a homecoming game to the city where he won a ring. There’s no question it should be electric at the Rock tonight.
The Cavs’ struggle tonight will be managing the hype of LeBron’s return and just stick to business on the basketball court. The Cavs are clearly the better team and they’re expected to win, but it will take their best effort when facing the likes of LeBron. The Cavs’ defense and rebounding will dictate the outcome of the game. The Lakers are a mediocre to bad rebounding team but they love to push the pace. If the Cavs can make this a half court game and control the boards, it should be a workmanlike win.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
cap is up
My predictions for final 10 games
Raps-Win
Bulls – Loss
Magic – Win
Mavs – Win
Hawks – Loss
Knicks – Win
76ers – Loss
Magic – Win
Nets – Toss up (if they rest for playoffs)
Bucks – Win (Bucks will rest top guys)
Anywhere from 7-3 or 8-2, think team would benefit from getting that 5 seed to play Celtics, otherwise they would play Bucks and thats not a good matchup. Think Celtics is better for them.
Kinda felt this was expected..Lebron loves turning it on when coming to Cleveland and rest of Lakers stepped up big time…I mean in highlights alone Westbrook drilled multiple 3s like he was a sharp shooter…couple East games coming up including the Raps next…fix the defense and team should be in good shape.
Ok just saw the lbj dunk on love. Head way above the rim at age 37. Dude has to be taken some sort of designer drugs. Whatever Tom Brady been taking for the last 10 years.
dunno if that is a good comparison.
LBJ has always been superhuman compared to anyone else, and his training regimen is beyond believe. and, at this point, he only “puts on the cape” half the games or less. but he always does for the Cavs.
on the other hand, was Brady a better than average athlete for a QB?
Meant more as in freakish longevity without seeming drop off in athleticism. As opposed to comparing their athleticism directly to one another. Plenty of baseball guys got better or maintained near the end of their careers from juicing in one form or another.
Maybe they’re just one in a million freaks as far as longevity. I just find it hard to believe they aren’t taking something to prolong their careers. TRT. HGH. Something that is custom.
agree that they might, but if anyone can defy time, it is LBJ
Don’t forget Satchel Paige played in the Majors from age 42 to 56 !! And this was after usually pitching a complete game EVERY OTHER DAY for decades in the Negro Leagues! Maybe LBJ is his grandson.
True. Good point on Paige.
Bulls beat the Raptors, but i doubt it’s going to matter. Cavs schedule sucks the rest of the way, and losing to this mediocre Laker team will likely torpedo them.
They have a number of winnable games if they can win on the road. Toronto, Atlanta, Orlando, Orlando, Knicks. But they have to win all those games and maybe sneak one from one of the other teams. That would be 6 and 4. Probably good enough to retain the 6th seed. Especially if they beat Toronto. Obviously biggest game of the year.
I had to listen to the game, NBA blackout for this west coast cav. I didn’t see it, but I expect that the team as a whole is exhausted. Three games in four days, and did we just play six games in eight days??? Including two overtime games, these guys are cooked. A travesty of scheduling. The first place that’s going to show is on defense and the second place is rebounding, both of which we excell and failed tonight. Rest up guys, the grind continues Thursday.
Anyone else nervous about DG’s minutes? I know he’s our best player but I feel like his efficiency is a bit down, esp from 3. Feel like JB is going full Thibodeau by running him 40+/night
Yes. Don’t see them having much choice, though.
I pray they can trade Sexton and Love for Lebron next year.
dunno about that. maybe Baker Mayfield for LeBron?
At this point, with all the injuries and the upcoming schedule, I see no way the Cavs avoid the play-in. At least their pick is lottery protected, which could turn out to be massive…
Can’t believe we lost to that dumpster fire of a team…
Raptors up 1 at the Bulls at half
Cavs should be sold to Baltimore. What a terrible effort by a very ill prepared team
Chicago and Toronto playing against each other… I’ll be rooting for Bulls so that Toronto don’t tie us in the standings.
Good thing Windler didn’t see the court till garbage time. Thank god JB is holding the line…
Cavs would have been absolutely fucked if he had gotten on the court…
Outrebounded by 4 against a trash rebounding team LMFAOOO
JB playing 18D chess…
HOLY SHIT LEBRON
It is insane lebron is still doing this with this efficiency at this age. Not sure about his d night in night out, but the numbers on o he is putting up every night this season are absurd for a 37 year old guy with as many minutes he has on him.
I figured this game might be a loss because lebron and the cavs.
Still love watching LeBron doing LeBron type things.
Not against the Cavs
that’s right! LFMAO
Yeah I agree, burns even more. The wife wanted to watch Ted Lasso so the only real part of the game I caught was LeBron’s YOLO shots at the end.
Actually I saw LeBron posterize Love at the end of the 1st half too lol
Gotta respect it..
I started watching basketball and Lebron and cavs was my originally team.. so I’ll always root for him, knowing he’s one of the greats but when the current Cavs are in the playoff race and need every win against a loosing disappointing Lakers team this year.. I’m all Cavs and I only got to watch the last few minutes but it’s so frustrating because we really needed this win.. I mean Damn Toronto beat Philly in Philly and we can’t beat Lakers at home ?
I definitely don’t hold ill will towards him for leaving the cavs a second time. I did the first for the way he did it and for what happened in the 2010 boston series. But, he got us a ship and would have gotten us more save for running into an all time talented team.
I do wish he wouldn’t have gone to my most hated nba team, but whatever.
Game is over..
My least favorite game of the season
Really disappointing winnable game.Defense forgot to show up/Levert,,,not much,Mobes,,not much..Careless turnovers.
Just a lousy game from the Cavs…
Cavs lack of discipline on their undoing. They’re just completely selling out on every drive.
Mobley a total no-show
Good thing the Cavs lottery protected that pick…
