Live Thread: Cavs @ Bulls

It’s Saturday night and the Cavs have boogied to the shores of Lake Michigan to take on the Bulls of Chicago to square off in a Central Division battle. The Cavs wil be looking to score their first win of the season, but it won’t be an easy task against the Bulls who have the same playoff aspirations the Cavs do. If the Cavs pull off the win, they will have to do so without their starting All-Star point guard Darius Garland, who is still out because of a reckless play by Gary Trent, Jr. Dylan Windler is still out with an ankle injury of course.
As for the Bulls, they will be looking to continue to ride the hot play of DeMar DeRozan to victory. Zach LaVine started off the year on the bench with a knee issue, but should be making his season debut tonight.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio. Go Cavs!
IIRC from last season. The Wiz, Bulls, & Raps were significant, IMHO.
One of the early signs of life from us was us stealing a win in Toronto from the Raps. By a point. We handled them the next two games, but they got us late with their switch to their new Siakam at C/Barnes emergent lineup late. They passed us in the standing, and Barnes won ROY instead of Mobley.
This year, I hope WE catch them. With DG/Rubio healthy, we should be the better team. And with real officiating. It will be a good marker for us.
The Wiz won a game early on b2b Kuzma triples late. We won two of the last 3, with the loss a game Pagnos had to start. We lost an early one we shouldn’t have, but were the better team the rest of the year. I want a similar thing to happen with the Raps this year. That game tastes like the Kuzma game from last year.
The Bulls had our number. Winning the last 3 after dropping the first. They just overwhelmed us with D. Caruso and Dosunmu, in particular. Boy, that did jot happen last night. B2B for them, but still.
I think most, non-Knick fans, have the Cavs, Raptors, and Bulls in the 6-10 range, with the Wiz in the mix for #10. If we can go 2-1, in Mitchell’s first games, without DG & Rubio, with 2 on the road, and 1 b2b, I will take that. With us coming close to 3-0.

For those tracking, Lauri blows up for 24 while shooting 2-10 in 3s, Sexton 11 with 7 of those points being FTs, and Agbaji DNP.
Having Lauri would be nice.

Yeah some of his heavily contested short range jumpers were something else. And they happened just when the team needed it.

Cavalanche #1 for this season. Yes, Bulls on a BTB, but we were without DG & Rubio.
Spida has been awful good. Hell, borderline GREAT to start the year. We shot 59% from deep and 56.5% from the floor & 89% from the line. Cedi was +41 and Love +27. LeVert seems much improved. Neto & Lopez were both really good tonight.
I don’t want Okoro’s contribution to go unnoticed. He had DeRozan in Roberto Duran mode tonight (“No mas.”).
Good point. Derozan had gone for 30+ his 2 previous but held to 13. Sure it’s BTB but man…
If Okoro can make a Derozan give up and quit trying, his outside shooting will will be a “so what?”.
Cavs take full advantage of Bulls back-to-back. Hope they have something left for tomorrow.

Missed last game and this one. Couldn’t bring myself to watch the 1st by replay thanks to the DG injury.

May be a an unpopular take but I think they need to keep Okoro in the starting line up, even after DG returns. Need that defense. LeVert can be the first off the bench.

I need clarification from someone who watched the game: did Cedi Osman actually play to the tune of a +41 +/-?! That is too ridiculous of a number to be ignored, even though they won by 34. Was Cedi THAT impressive?

Yeah I’m hoping to see consistency from him this year. The last two games he’s been great!

His body is always all over the place…he almost never has a stable shooting platform.
