Live Thread: Cavs @ Clippers

Hey Cavs fans! The extremely rare occurrence of a late night west coast wine & gold tilt combined with a relatively free morning for me in my part of the world has coalesced into an opportunity for me to share a live thread with all of you good people.

To this day, I can’t really understand why the other L.A. team is still called the Clippers. I mean, I sort of got it when they were based out of San Diego (given the sea port it still is), but most modern teams change their monikers upon swapping bases of operations these days. Not to mention the distancing they might have done from both the dark era of losing and Donald Sterling ownership.

A clipper is after all a narrow 19th century era sailing ship designed for speed. I’m not sure the same qualities apply to this current iteration of the L.A. team. In fact, they are one of the tougher teams to get a true read on in this current NBA season. When their parts are whole (PG-13, Kawhi Leonard, etc) they seem to have a fairly lofty ceiling. But their parts are so rarely whole these days.

One team that’s not hard to get a read on, however, is our less and less surprisingly 8-1 Cavaliers. We knew Donovan Mitchell would be good… but this good? This soon? And, the fact that Darius Garland has played two and a half games of those nine is also kind of incredible.

It’s not the easiest back-to-back the Cavs may face this year… but technically, they should be more rested than the Clips who sailed back from Utah last night while the Cavs were already docked in L.A. swabbing the decks of the remains of the Lakers.

Looking for a strong start tonight and the good guys to coast to a 117-102 victory. Chime in, I’ll be here all night/morning!

GO CAVS!
