Live Thread: Cavs vs Hawks
2022-11-21It’s a battle between a pair of 10-6 squads. On the Cavs side, they’ll be sans Dean Wade & Caris LeVert. Kevin Love will reportedly give the hairline fractured thumb a go and try to play tonight.
Meanwhile for Atlanta, DeAndre Hunter is questionable with an illness, and Bogdan Bogdanovich is out. Cleveland will have to punish Trae Young on defense, which probably means Lamar Stevens in the post as the Hawks tend to try to hide him on the opponents’ worst guy.
Trae’s putting up all NBA numbers with 27 and 9 dimes while Murray is dropping 21/6/7 joining a slew of starters in double figures. Should be a good one!
Dunno what Chris is talking about the narrative that Levert is a chucker. I don’t think anyone thinks that this year. And that is why he is working out. He was a chucker last year and it wasn’t effective. He was a much better mid range jump shooter last year but it wasn’t efficient at all. This year he is looking to pass which is what you want him doing. I don’t want him pulling up on midrangers. That wasn’t efficient offense even when he was making them at a higher percentage last year. The onky thing I want Levert… Read more »
pod cap up!
Nice article on Lamar and how he’s holding everyone accountable. On a different team I can definitely see that attitude grating on the stars. Hopefully this team has the right chemistry to benefit from a voice like that.

THE RECENT TWEET POINTED OUT HOW CAVS HAVE BENIFITTED FROM OTHER TEAM INJURIES—-WE HAVE HAD ALLEN/ LEVERT/ WADE / WINDLER/ GARLAND/ SPIDA/ LOVE IS PLAYING– BUT PROBALY ONY @ 75 % —-AND LET’S NOT FORGET RUBIO WHO I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE HIM MESH WITH THIS UNIT
WE HAVE TO CURTAIL OUR TO’S AND CONTINUE TO IMPROVE ON THE BOARDS—-STILL SEE ALOT OF PLAYERS ” BALL WATCHING ” INSTEAD OF FLYING TO THE BALL ——–ONE THING THAT REALLY AGGREVATED ME WAS THE 2 BS FOULS ICE RECEIVED IN THE 1ST HALF WHEN GAURDING TRAE—-WTF REFS
ARCH I HAVE ALWAYS RESPECTED YOUR OPINION// POSTS—AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO—-BUT MAN WE HAVE TO MOVE ON FROM LAURI—YES HE IS HAVING A NICE SEASON FOR THE JAZZ—GOOD FOR HIM BUT WE DON’T GET SPIDA IF LAURI ISN’T INVOLVED IN THE TRADE–ALSO HE IS THE MAIN FOCUS IN THEIR OFFENSE WHICH THAT WAS NEVER GOING TO BE THE CASE HERE WITH THE CAVS —ALSO IF WE WOULD HAVE LEARNED KOBY COULD HAVE MADE A TRADE WITH THE JAZZ FOR SPIDA AND DIDN’T BECAUSE HE DIDN’T WANT TO INCLUDE LAURI —-WE WOULD ALL BE SCREAMING !!!!—ALSO I DO RECALL… Read more »
Great points NOMAD! Funny to look back at how everyone (including me) and their mothers (including mine) wanted heads for trading LNJ for Lauri.
Haha, I remember. I liked LNJ, but I also liked Lauri and wondered why he never got anywhere with the Bulls.
Credit to JB for putting Stevens in with the starters. Defense has looked much better. Credit to Lamar as well obviously for stepping up.
Think it makes a ton of sense to alternate Wade and Lamar as the starting 3 depending on matchups. Caris with the starters just doesn’t work. Meanwhile, a 2nd unit of Ricky, Caris, Cedi/Ice/Wade/Lamar, Love, RoLo still gives us lots of solid options. Would be awesome if JB has the confidence to run a 12-deep rotation.
odd ball road trip in March: two games in Miami on Wed and Fri, then two games in Charlotte on Sunday and Tuesday.
I don’t recall anything like that in the past.
they’re trying to reduce travel and also coaches like the back to backs to simulate playoff situations regarding game to game adjustments.
Damn I wish we kept Markenen!
Yo Arch: did you know the Cavs got Donovan Mitchell in the trade? Maybe Utah didn’t want to give him away for free?
I feel a pod coming. Is it bad that I want the Clippers to beat the Jazz, to make it feel like we won this trade?
you thought right Arch, should be out tonight or tomorrow
Who got the Dawg tonight? Cedi? Stevens?
Stevens

Twice!!
Had to miss the 2nd half. What on earth??? Our d got BETTER???
D was decent. Hawks missed a lot of jumpers, especially Murray.
Biggest difference: Garland and Mitchell go for 55 on 20-for-36 shooting with 9 dimes each; Young and Murray go for 36 on 14-for-39 shooting (and 2-8 from three). We should have been the more tired team, having played last night, but yes, they missed shots. Our back court might not reach “lockdown” status, but they can outscore just about anyone.
Would have been sweet to break this record for them.. they had 102 tonight..
Atlanta has scored at least 100 points in each of its first 16 games for just the fourth time in franchise history, and in 37 straight, the longest active streak in the NBA.
The Hawks got 20 pts off 20 Cavs TOs………and still barely broke 100.
Cavs with the 3 seed. Indy with the 4 seed.

they’re figuring it out….. they can’t be stopped!!!!
If we stop with all the TOs, it is gonna get nasty.
Missed most of the 2nd half due to life and a buggy NBA LP app. Grrr.
Glad the lads stuck it to Trae et al!!!
EZ DUB
Cavs won this with 81 turnovers. Suck it Trae!
CAVS SHOT 60% IN THIS GAME LMFAOOOOO
Didn’t even realize they shot so well because of the frustration of watching the 20 turnovers and because of this ATL had 18 more field goal attempts.
So much for my comment at half that 60% shooting wasn’t sustainable (though we did not shoot 60% fron deep for the game).
