Live Thread: Cavs vs Spurs
2024-01-07Happy afternoon, Cavs fans! Big shout out to my best friend from college, Eric, who’s taking his kids to their first Cavs game! It’s French week in Cavsdom,, with rookie phenom Frenchman, Victor Wembenyama coming to town for Cleveland’s battle with the Spurs. Enjoy today though, fans, cause after the Cavs only have one game between now and the 15th. After, the Cavs get ready to go to Paris to take on the Nets in the city of light: a one game in eight days road trip! It should be exciting!
Cedi Osman returns to town, but the word is, with guys coming back from injury he may not play as much. Meanwhile the Cavs are missing only Garland, Mobley the Younger, and Ty Jerome. The injury report looks smaller with Ricky Rubio’s recent retirement. Let’s hope the wine and gold win this for him.

I think Bates & Nancethe3rd have a way to go before they are NBA ready. Let them develop awhile.

I love to see that. I guy in the 6’7″ to 6’10” range who can score would be a huge boon for us.
Love that the Suns are basically a .500 team.
KD is so not a leading man. Not the bus driver. BetaMax. He is a great player, but hexeroses culture, he doesn’t build it.
In terms of SF all-time, I’d put Dr. J, Havlicek, Baylor, and even Pippen ahead of him. And Bron & Bird, of course. He is like a better version of Rik Barry. On court, anyway.
He’s also near the end of his career. I think he was more impactful 4-5-6 years ago.
Hawks almost did us a solid, but ORL gonna win.
Still, down Mobes, DG, Rubio having not played a minute and retired, and Jerome missing almost the entire season, being essentially tied for 4th is pretty sweet. Though it is 5 teams.
Merrill and CPJ have been huge surprises. As has TT’s resurgence. Strus has been better than expected, more than just a gunner. Okoro & Wade have filled in admirably as starters. Niang has had some good nights as well.
We get DG back & playing better & we suddenly look a bit deeper.
Some forward/wing size & scoring is what we need.
The Hawks are frauds. That team isn’t going anywhere.
I think we definitely have more talent on the team this year than last, particularly from behind the three point line.
Niang has the best +/- rather often
HOW MANY DAYS OFF DO THE CAVS HAVE
They play Thursday at 1:30 pm EST (in Paris) vs Nets. Then play next Monday vs Bulls. Light week.
Light week is about 112 billion miles.
