2025-10-29Cavs missing Merrill, Garland and Strus, while Spida will play. Celtics without Tatum (obviously) and like Mitchell, Jaylen Brown is a game time decision who will play. The Celtics are coming off their first win of the season versus the moribund Pelicans, and the Cavs have been rounding into form. Let’s hope Proctor can fill the void left by the fantastic so far Sam Merrill. Go Cavs.

I didn’t get to see any of the game and have a question for those that did: How did Jaylon Tyson look?
Caleb Crowley of KJG says he showed “stunning development”, while Corey Walsh of FTS says he stinks and gave him a “D”. Going by the box score, it looks like he had a good to great game.
Anyone have an opinion?
He played well. Decent D. Great hustle on both ends of floor. Hunter stunk.
Tyson found his game in the flow of the offense. He didn’t force shots.
Agree with Nate & ChrisK – also noticed that he was pretty amped. He did little flexing / shouting after a couple of key plays. Speaks to confidence building, I think.

Remember: no Ty Jerome to make the bench nuclear, which let’s face it papered over a lot of cracks in this ballclub last season. Exposed in the playoffs.

We have a good coaching crew who will figure out how this squad can operate. It will be a playoff team, pretty sure. How far they go is the real question.
I only caught the last 15 min of game time today, my takeaway was that Hunter has a very defined skillset, is a little inflexible and may not have great vision / know how to read the moment. The opposite of CPJ, who I wish was a foot taller…
Yeah. That’s why he’s best off the bench. You can build a bench offense around his iso game, but he’s a chucker. His defensive indifference was infuriating. He plays like a stronger Rodney Hoodm

Nomad, agreed. Watching the game last night, so many of the rebounds were long off missed threes–with the Celtics, are there any others?–with four or five Cavs crashing the glass but overrunning the rebound. I know how rebounding is coached at the high school level. My hope is this can be coached at the NBA level as well. In most cases, it wasn’t lack of effort.

They showed up until they couldn’t just jack 3’s…they barely adjusted the rebounding issue.
The pull-up transition threes by the wine and gold tonight have been mostly ill conceived.
Hunter went 5-17 and just kept shooting. Did someone tell him he should tey to be Mitchell’s bailout tonight?
I wish they would have tried to use their size, especially with Mithcell’s injury and Merrill’s absence. Trying to out-three the opponent makes for ugly basketball once the misses start.
Cavs are just not allowed to defend as aggressively as the Celtics are.

Tyson’s hustle after starting the 2nd half on the bench was nice. I was glad to see Hunter go to the bench. He’s chucking a lot and while he’s scoring he’s not really doing anything else.
Cavs can still win but they gotta keep attacking the basket and attacking on D. Kind of infuriating game so far.
This is an embarrassing effort by the Cavs. This does not look like a serious team at all.
