Podcast 320: Cavsgiving
2025-11-24We didn’t get this pod posted before the Cavs’ deep bench outplayed Evan Mobley, who should’ve been sitting the final five minutes of the Cavs’ loss to Toronto, so you can be not thankful for that loss on your own. We’ll just pretend that loss didn’t happen. Lesson of this Cavs team from the last few years: don’t watch the game before Thanksgiving.
Fortunately, we got a podcast that celebrates the season, Nate Smith and Chris Francis fired up the booth during the middle of a back-to-back to go over the Cavs season so far, recap the Cavs win against the Clippers, and pitch a whole lot of things to be thankful for. The guys took on the whole roster: all 17 of whom have played so far this season in real minutes for the wine and gold. Who do we like? Who do we not? What lineups are gelling? What teams have a shot at the cup (and who cares? Then we went around the NBA to break down the surprisingly deep East, and the top-heavy West. We went over the things we weren’t so thankful for (the slog of the NBA season). Finally, we went over the things worth gratitude: no more having to watch Isaac Okoro, awesome family, great co-workers, and some bad-ass organizations that do a lot of good for a lot of folks that you should support.

I’m disappointed that the Cavs didn’t make the cut for the NBA Cup. Would have been nice to see them compete under pressure before April.

We look mid. DG and Allen look out of shape, Mobley looks overburdened.
The other guys get paid too though and Atlanta just got humiliated by the Wizards on Wednesday. We caught the bounceback and still could have won with tighter execution / transition defense.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Last day of NBA Cup.
Raptors have won Group A. A Cavs win will put us at 3-1 where it will come down to point diff to qualify. Cavs +33 point diff.
Group B: Magic (3-0, +61) vs Pistons (2-1, +24).
Group C: Heat (3-1, +49). Knicks (2-1, +26) vs Bucks (2-1, +13).
IDK the tiebreakers, within groups/3 way, on who wins the groups. But we need to be ahead of whomever finishes 2nd.
A win by 17 would put us ahead of Miami and likely whomever wins Bucks/Knicks. A Magic win and we are in.
