The hospital Cavs welcome the hospital Golden State Warriors to the foggy banks of the Cuyahoga River for a low key important game for both teams. The Cavs need to keep up the momentum from last night’s great win against the San Antonio Spurs, and the Golden State Warriors are fighting for their lives in the West. Darius Garland is back, which hasn’t bode well for the Cavs’ chances at winning or playing good defense this season. Hopefully the tide turns for DG and the good guys.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:30PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Fanduel Sports Network Ohio, Go Cavs!

Sounds like the Pistons pursuing Anthony Davis, not Lauri… my guess is Lauri’s cost is way higher than AD’s.
If the cost is low, I might be willing to take an AD gamble.

Cavs can’t aggregate salary as a 2nd apron team, and sending out either JA or Hunter is counterproductive to solving the Cavs’ rebounding and size problem… the dead weight is DG.
AD’s contract is horrendous too… so in that sense you’re right Dallas is certainly looking to offload that salary.
Crazy that Boston has beaten every East contender in the last two weeks or so.

I was encouraged by the fight that game. A week off will do them wonders. Everyone save Hunter (association’s laziest help defender) played hard. Garland got a bit of mojo back and just has to keep in playing his way back.
I agree with this. Shit result but Pat Spencer did the same thing to Philly on Thursday.
The only thing that really matters is DG physical condition. Everything else can be worked through as health returns (bench Hunter, make shots). I was ready to sit him for a month after Tuesday but he looked better and on his way to good yesterday.

I only saw the end of the Buckeyes game. The play calling was highly suspect (down by three, third and one on about the 8, call for a pass which has not been working?) and the QB decisions were a disaster (rolled out, nobody open, could have easily run for the first down and maybe the TD, instead passed to a guy not at all open). WTF?
I was impressed with the Hoosiers’ defense; these days in college football you hardly ever see two top notch defensive teams battle it out like that. I think Sayin was sacked as many times last night as in the first 12 games combined. Hopefully will be more ready for it if they meet again in the playoffs. But, at the end of the day, if they’ve beaten TTUN, I can’t get too upset about this game!
Do you switch starting lineups every other game?
The earlier holiday vibes have diminished somewhat. And Ohio’s best pro football team is going to end a 30 game winning streak against Indy. Oh well.
Have to start Tyson over Hunter going forward. Garland thankfully looks fine physically and he was battling (that charge was great).

Hunter has turned out to be a blunder. it sets a bad tone to start him when it looks like he doesn’t care.
We have enough data on Hunter now. He’s exclusively a 3 and should only play 4 in emergencies.
There’s a use case for him but this has been his worst stretch as a Cav. He looks mentally tired.
But I was here in real time for the discussions about Vert and Niang. Message boards don’t love anyone as much as former Cavs but people hated Niang all the time and Caris half the time too.

There are arguments either way for starting DG right now (when he can’t handle a back to back yet), versus shutting him down a while longer. But man, there’s no defensible reason I can see for starting him “and” Hunter. It means you’re going small in the front court “and” back court. And it’s not paying off with extra offensive juice. When will Kenny accept this? Rather see Tomlin starting.

How does Garland look “physically” compared to other nights, for those who’ve seen a lot of recent games? (Not commenting on his performance; that was a ragged first half for everyone!) Seems okay to my eyes, tonight. But the Warriors are pressing him a lot when he brings the ball up; need a counter in the second half. There was one possession when Dean lhad the ball left wing after an o-board, Tomlin all alone near the basket asking for the ball, and Dean swings it elsewhere. Not sure what happened there.
He seems to be moving a little better. Court vision not there yet. I hear calls for his benching, but he needs minutes. Let’s face it, hours.
