Live Thread: Cavs vs Magic 2026-01-26 Off By Nate Smith Cavs magic part two. We get the exact same injury report as last game, and the great “Free Garland” (or, Garland Free) expirement continues. Hopefully Cleveland plays as focused as they did Saturday. Go Cavs. Live Thread: Cavs @ Magic Live Thread: Cavs vs Lakers
LT up
Merrill & Hunter available.
No live thread for the Lakers & Bron?
Probably just as well.
Tristan Enaruna in the fold for the near future. I say give him a few minutes here and there. Can’t be much worse than Nance.
Livingston waived. Talk of converting Tomlin to standard contract.
Just when Mobes was really starting to ball out. Ugh.
do the Cavs have more injuries than most teams, or does this happen to every team?
We’re in the top quarter by pretty much all metrics. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/injured/_/year/2025/view/team. Boston and Indy are higher in terms of $ because JT and Hali make a ton.
Plus the sequence of these injuries (one comes in one goes out) / requiring new lineups every fourth game hurts a lot. Only constant has been Mitchell.
Right now the guys who are out beat our best 5 healthy:
Hurt: DG, Merrill, Strus, Hunter, Mobley
Healthy: Spida, Tyson, Wade, Allen + Ball/CPJ
putting my money on the Healthy
MOBES OUT—— REAVES IN ——WTF 🤬
BRYANT/ TOMLIN MORE MINUTES ?? —- OMIER ? —- SMALL BALL?? ———TOTALLY SUCKS ESPECIALLY WHEN WE STARTED TO GET SOME MOMENTUM 🤬🤬
We need something from Hunter, really. I hope they don’t push DG back, I think he’s fine staying out until the ASB..
Bryant/Tomlin/LNJ/Wade/ Travers?? are gonna have to be good enough.
DAMN JUST READ ABOUT MOBES ——- THESE INJURIES SUCK ALMOST AS BAD AS THIS FRIGGIN WEATHER 🤬🤬
So now…
Don/Sam/Tyson/Wade/Allen on the WC trip (at best)…damn
Re Mobley, ugh! Hopefully closer to one than three wks.
What is current timing re Sam? Is he close to returning?
Hopefully Hunter gets back as well. More LNJ. More Ball. More Tomlin.
No B2Bs. We may need to ride Mitchell, Allen, & Tyson a bit.
I think the last stretch of games Wade missed made a difference for him physically. Very rare that you see him score 6 points despite missing his 3’s. He was great. Agree with fewer 3s from Mobley. In particular, I don’t think he should take any pull-up 3s; if he’s got a live dribble at the arc, then get into the paint where he can make something happen. An occasional spot up 3 off the drive and kick is okay. Great seeing Tyson steadily shifting his usage over the course of the year from 3 or small ball 4, to… Read more »
Agree wrt Wade. Setting aside the stats, he just looks more effective on the floor. Stronger, more opportunistically assertive on both ends.
Right, the counting stats aren’t that important with him, but the fact that he got all of those points by making a few aggressive moves to the rim – instead of just swinging it somewhere else despite having an opening – is what I was happy to see from him on O.
I also couldn’t catch up due to peacock stupidity. Glad u guys kept this real. Good game, but I thought the Cavs were really sloppy and got a lot of lucky bounces. They did a nice job of playing through mistakes and keeping the effort up, when the focus wasn’t always there. A lot of these guys like Tomlin, Tyson, and Mobley are still learning, and it was also nice to see em go away from Ball and to Proctor when Lonzo didn’t have it. Helps that Spida was transcendent and that Suggs hasn’t found any offensive rhythm. Also helps… Read more »
Also, Dean Wade is balling RN, and Mobley would be awesome if he stopped jacking above the break threes. Its weird cause he was good at them last year, but I think it all bad rhythm shot selection from him. He has to work on his pre-catch footwork and being more “still” when he goes up. Part of that is core and lower body work. Part of that is reps. Last year he was doing more catch-and-shoot in the half court offense I feel like and this year it’s more transition and off the bounce. He was also much better… Read more »
