“ DITTO “ WHAT RAOUL POSTED 👍
Hate to see Myles go, but now he has a real shot a a ring — good for him! this is probably best for everyone. hope he picks a Browns uni for the HOF
After the Watson trade it was obvious the Browns were in purgatory for five years, and I was calling to tank for five years, plus trade Myles and all the top older players for draft picks starting in around 2024 or 2025, and having a super team starting in 2027. they have approximately done this.
yesterday, Pete Smith in 247Sports, suggested four possible trades for Myles, with this one as the “most likely” — the rare Sportswriter who knows what he is talking about.
Agreed. Myles would be 33 in 2028, if they’re planning on finding their QOTF in the ‘27 draft and being a contender in ‘28. The edge rusher coming back from the Rams will be age 28 at that same point and either still on his rookie contract (if the Browns pick up his 5th year option) or on an extension that would still be much cheaper than Garrett. And while he can’t “replace” Garrett – since no one currently in the league could do that – he’s a pretty good pass rusher in his own right. Defensive Rookie of the… Read more »
Browns appear to have nailed back-to-back drafts for the first time in decades. ‘25 was a strong group and a lot of observers rated their ‘26 picks tops in the whole draft – we’ll see. Now they have draft capital to make sure they can get the right QB next April.
It’s the right time. Still hurts though. Best edge rusher I’ve ever seen.
I AM “ COVERTLY “ WRITING FOR KJG 🤪🍺
Really?
M GARRETT TRADED TO RAMS —— STAY TUNED – GOING TO BE AN INTERESTING SUMMER IN NE OHIO
.
blind squirrel dept:
idk what is going on over there, but KJG actually has three good articles today — good for them.
There’s a chance Brunson and his mob can pull it off, but I think Spurs will get and deserve the chip. All good, except for one major issue:
Kelly Olynyk will get a ring.
yeah, they have Olynyk, Biambo, and Plumlee in case they have to rough up anyone
Cavs need a goon squad
They really do.
Wemby has a little goon in him. The Spurs had a number of cheap shots on OKC. In different games. Keldon Johnson or Bryant with the shoulder charge on SGA. Wemby told them to rough OKC up at garbage time one game and they did.
yeah, the league office sat on its hands on that one due to a huge game 7 coming u p
we are probably going to hate Wemby starting about next year.
BEEN POSTING WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE POSTED FOR QUITE AWHILE——- THIS CAVS TEAM AS PRESENTLY ASEMMBLED WILL WIN 45 POSSIBLY 50 REGULAR SEASON GAMES BUT WILL BE HARD PRESSED TO EVEN ADVANCE PAST THE 2nd ROUND——— A BIG NO TRADING AWAY THE FUTURE FOR AN AGING/ OFT INJURED GIANNIS——- SIGN/ TRADE HARDEN —-SHCROEDER BYE – BYE ——— SPIDA —WOULD NEED TO MAKE SURE WE GET VALUE IN RETURN——-WADE / STRUS ?? ——-YES WE ARE IN “ PURGATORY- REBUILD “ MODE LIKE IT OR NOT
yeah, “ PURGATORY- REBUILD “ MODE pretty much describes it. we are pretty much at the top of the PRM heap, but will be hard pressed to get to the ECF again. and it will be hard to escape PRM– we have traded away our picks, and the new anti-tanking rules will screw us.
They won’t until 2030 at earliest.
I like playoff basketball. This isn’t purgatory. The last twenty years of the Kings is purgatory. Pre-Bron Lakers, same.
yeah, this is like purgatory penthouse, or purgatory mezzanine. the Cavs will be bouncing around between the play in game, and the ECF when they get lucky, so there is some playoff basketball. but if you watched any of the OKC/SA WCF the last couple weeks, you couldn’t help but think there is no way the Cavs can play with the big dogs.
If you watched the Warriors in 2018 you’d think they had a four-peat on lock. Stuff happens.
C’mon, who’s kidding who? This team will never make the next step with our average at best role players in Merrill, Wade, Strus, Tyson, etc. and starting guards who can’t play defense. This team peaked long ago and there’s no catching up with this roster. We need size, youth, and athleticism to go anywhere in today’s NBA. How we do it with the little wiggle room we have is anyone’s guess.
got that right. and it is hard to imagine any way to get the Cavs up to the SA / OKC level. the best bet is to bottom out and hope to get a true #1 in the rebuild. last time around, we got Sexton, Garland, Mobley, and some fringe rotation players. Mobley is the only one who starts on a top team.
Absolutely insane level of play in the western conf finals.
I was gonna say exactly that. That was an incredible display.
Looking forward to the Finals.
yup — NYK are going to be a long shot.
Yes, esp the role players. Such stark contrast to what we witnessed from most of the Cavs personnel.
During the regular season, I thought that we had one of, if not the best, supporting casts. Then we got to the playoffs…
right. and it is hard to see how the Cavs would have a chance against either team. certainly not with Kenny in charge — it is conceviable that a good coach would elevate our crew to this level, but I doubt it.
PREACH RAOUL PREACH!!
if the Cavs decide to make major moves, Mobley is the only player that should be off the table. Mitchell is a great guy, but he is not good enough to be the #1 on a top team (sorry), and he is getting older. Mitchell would be a great #2 that could put another team in the finals.
I’d argue that Tyson should also be kept. You don’t see jumps in performance like his very often – the kind of jump we’ve wanted to see from some of the Cavs higher picks but never really came.
I’m betting Tyson’s going to have to be included if they’re going to pull off any meaningful trade. I don’t know what all the trade mechanics are, salary cap stuff, but I’d assume if the Cavs really want Giannis they’re going to have to say goodbye to both Mobley and Tyson.
I’ve been watching clips from the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show. Their take is different. They agree that DM is not a #1. But their solution is different. DM is our best player. You keep him. If JH walks, you get nothing, so you pay him, too. But the team has clearly plateaued, and that is unacceptable, so you trade everyone else to go after Giannis and LeBron, to go out in a blaze of glory. I don’t know what to think.
I would be ok staying put, knowing you’re fourth best (at best). Weird shit can happen and if you keep yourself in position maybe something crazy shakes out. But I think I’d also be ok with chasing Giannis. A player of that caliber isn’t available often, and that’s what it would take to be a real threat. It would hurt to give up Mobley and let’s say Tyson, but it wouldn’t fully bankrupt the team. Trying to bring in LeBron on top of that would put the Cavs in absolute desperate mode with what they’d have to give up (probably… Read more »
right, and these guys are not in back half of their career, they are at the tail end of their career. how long has it been since either LeBron or Giannis has been a top #20 player in the league? who thinks they are going to get better?
Giannis is still a top 10 player. Definitely a gamble though.
also think it’s probably unlikely to happen anyway…
haven’t watched him this year, but I am pretty sure the Bucks were 32 and 50
He only played in 36 games.
I do: it is by no means clear that Giannis is better than Mobley RIGHT NOW, let alone still a #1. even if he is, he is hurt all the time and going downhill fast.
a Mobley + a bunch for Giannis trade will make the Deshaun Watson trade look good.
The Watson trade was great. It’s what caused me to never watch the Browns again. Couldn’t be happier.
If healthy, Giannis is twice the player Mobley is. Legit top 10, probably top 5. Hell, he was 3rd in the MVP voting last year. He’s been top 4 every year since 2019 and top 7 every year since 2017. He averaged 27.6 ppg on 62.4% FGs. The 3rd year in a row over 60%. Over 30 ppg the last 2 years. The floor balance with Allen would be crap, as he is used to playing with other bigs who space the floor (Lopez, Portis, Turner). But he’d make Mitchell the #2 and push Harden to #3. He will cost… Read more »
sorry, but keeping KA was a blunder.
the game 1 fiasco underlined what we all secretly knew and feared: KA is not competent to be a head coach in the NBA. he might be a great offensive coordinator — that is debatable, but there is no doubt that he is clueless about in in-game adjustments.
running it back with KA will be lucky to get to the ECF again.
I watched most of Spurs / OKC, and Fever / Valkyries tonight. in both games, the coaches were coaching! they were not sitting on the bench and shaking their heads.
did anyone pay attention to KA in Game 1, while the 22 point lead was being squandered? did KA appear to notice the lead was dwindling? did he talk to the assistant coaches about what they might do to, you know, win the game?
I don’t think Kenny is a details guy. I think he’s a vibes guy. To be successful in playoffs, you’ve gotta study the opposition in detail.
this is the first of (hopefully) several posts on aspects of “Where are the Cavs now?”. West is currently considerably better than the East. if the top four EC teams played the top 4 WC teams, the EC would be lucky to get any wins. the Knicks and Celts are the best teams in the EC. Then come Pacers, Pistons, Cavs, Hawks, Raps, 76’ers, Magic; maybe the Hornets, Heat, and Bucks. The Cavs will be lucky to finish near the top of this crew. Some of these teams are young and getting better, the Cavs are treading water at best.… Read more »
KOBY MIGHT WANT TO KEEP A STABLE SHIP ( keeping KA ). ALSO 2 COACHES RECENTLY FIRED ( JB / BROWN) DID PRETTY GOOD JOB THIS YEAR———- THE TO SNAFU — ANALYTICS COMMENTS WERE NO DOUBT MAGNIFIED DUE TO PLAYOFF EXPOSURE —- IF CAVS DONT GET PAST 2nd Round OR EVEN WIN ECF — IT COULD BE HIS LAST YEAR WITH THE CAVS———-WE ( ME INCLUDED) WERE PRAISING HIM AS A COACH ONLY A YEAR AGO
watched the Spurs / Thunder game tonight. hard to see the Cavs competing against either of them. hard to see the Knicks giving either of them a fight either.
SAS/OKC likely going 7, NY will be chuffed.
So Kenny is staying. Is that good?
I still remember the days when all of the world knows Mike Brown can’t run a single play now he’s running circles on us.
I’m concerned that his coaching hasn’t grown from his Nets stint, but given Harden and Mitchell’s endorsement, I suppose we’re stuck right now.
I think it’s great if they do get Giannis and Bron, fine otherwise. His strength is creative offense and if you kept Merrill Tyson Strus and Proctor there are a lot of fun shooters and smart players to utilize to help the old guys.
Tony Brothers at work.
The goaltend, off Chets foot, then they don’t give him the challenge..
