Live Thread: Cavs @ Hawks

Fresh off of last night’s win against the frisky Washington Wizards, the Cavs travel south to the Georgia Piedmont to take on the pesky Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are looking to take the next step in their evolution and become a bona fide playoff team. The good guys are looking to establish themselves as a championship contender. It’ll be a tough task and a great win if they can pull off the SEGABABA win. On the injury front, looks like surging rookie Meleek Thomas will be out tonight with a foot issue. Hopefully it’s not a Max Strus situation :(

Nope. It’s too early. Cleveland is a different creature when Maleek Thomas is available. Proctor and cpj need mins but they aren’t the top end talent that Maleek is. Time to become the pacers of two years ago. Ball handlers galore
East is gonna somehow be a six way tie at 51-31.
Last game both allen and mobley got double digit rebounds. That doesn’t seem to happen ever.
Mobes I’m willing to allow for 8-9 because he is becoming a stretch guy like porzingus…but Allen should never get less than 10 it he plays 30 mins or more.
Hard to get mad at losing off a missed flagrant call and some
Goofy bounces including a missed dunk and an offensive rebound off a well guarded 3 to ice it by ATL.
Also missing four FTs in the fourth quarter of a 3 point loss is pain. But this was a pretty typical make or miss road loss at the end of 3 in 4 for both teams.
What was the story on Meleek? They just didn’t play him?
Apparently, none of us read Chris’ preview. He was out with a “foot injury.” Thank, Chris, and sorry for missing that info.
Also, it’s sad that we are hunting for the rookie five games in to explain why we lost to the Hawks…
Said this exact thing to my dad tonight. How are we already so enthralled with Maleek that he is out for injury and we lower our expectations for the team?
Gave up 73 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Got outrebounded, gave 15 offensive rebounds, allowed them to shoot 40% from 3.
positive side Proctor and Merrill were good off the bench, Mobley 7 assists 1 turnover, Harden shooting.
I thought Proctor played well and attacked the rim; he was a neg on defense.
Merrill was back to his usual self. If he were o lying a bit bigger…
Mobley is averaging 20 and 10, and came in shooting 60% from 3. Unfortunately, whenever we look at him, we expect more. He does pass well. This should have been a Hawks front to feast on. He and Allen really didn’t.

Somehow, the Cavs are tied for the most BtoB games this year (16). If we don’t figure out how to get the younger guys more involved, I don’t see how this team is built to win these games. The Hawks also had a game last night, and they looked so much fresher. I know the Cavs traveled, but with Harden at the point, I don’t see it. Three more years…

We are being treated to Playoff Harden in the Regular Season tonight. Every fourth-quarter possession, he has looked like a frazzled old man surprised by the cars flying by. He should NOT be running this offense in the SGOABTB.
