Live Thread: 76ers @ Cavs – NBA Cup

The Cavs welcome 2016 NBA Champion LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers to the banks of the Cuyahoga River for an NBA Cup, Eastern Conference primetime showdown. The Cavs are in a bit of disarray with injuries and poor play on offense from James Harden and poor play on defense from Evan Mobley. This is a perfect opportunity for the good guys to build some confidence and get moving in the right direction.
As for the Sixers, they look like they have the best starting 5 in the NBA, but have a terrible bench. The only real question for them is whether they can stay healthy in the spring. Sit back and enjoy the show Commentariat!

Only Sixer lead was 2-0 when Edgecombe scored on a run away dunk. My fear was that was going to be a major theme of the evening, but Cavs managed to handle their business fairly well. Easy to overanalyze a dataset of one observation, but LeBron definitely showed his age tonight.

I LOVE how they righted the opening-night wrong tonight. They kept their cool when Philly closed the deficit to two and went to work. I still feel Harden is slowing them down. When he is out, the team plays so much faster…and more effectively… he ended +7 tonight, but I can’t help LeBron and Embiid helped make that happen.
Harden plays playoff basketball offense all the time now sadly LOL but it’ll be needed and was needed tonight when the game slowed down.
There were also flashes of defense from him tonight. I am going to suggest that this schedule and injuries have made it hard for this team to gel… but when we get to April, a Mitchell/Harden/Watson/Mobley/Allen/Hezonja/Tyson/Proctor/Thomas/Merrill rotation may be the best ten-man rotation in the playoffs. That is the goal.
Yeah this was the Harden you need – a few TOs where guys didn’t finish the cut or relocation but overall very very good
