2012-03-31Kyrie Irving is questionable for tonight’s game due to the shoulder sprain suffered yesterday.
This is how I’ll feel if he misses much time.
Update: I suppose everyone knows this now, but Sloan started tonight. Â It’s your big chance, Donald! Â Bright lights, big city!! Â Show ’em what you got!
Ross, I do like Thomas. Dude can play and I think he will be a better pro than Sullinger. Sullinger, in my eyes, will probably be a DeJuan Blair.
As a big OSU fan who watched almost all their games on national TV this past year, Deshaun Thomas will easily become the best NBA player on Ohio State’s current team…better than Sullinger, Buford, or any one else. I haven’t heard anything about him planning to declare for the draft though. I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays at least one more season at Ohio State.
To the person who wants to take DeShaun Thomas over Harrison Barnes… Min FG 3pt FT Oreb Reb Ast Stl Blk TO PF Pts 23 3-14 1-7 2-2 2 4 1 0 0 1 4 9 That is DeShaun Thomas’s stat line from last night (again he shot 3-14 AND 1-7 from 3), or what could be considered a “big moment”, perhaps even the biggest moment he will ever play in. Granted Barnes had no good games this tourney. The point is I’m not saying I like Barnes because I don’t but I’ll take him over Thomas, a guy who… Read more »
Barnes absolutely does not disappear in big moments. His defense isn’t on par with his offense and I do wish he had more assists per game than he does but the guy creates his own offense when Kendall isn’t creating it for him. (Scuzz is pretty spot on, last year he impressed me a little more than this year) He didn’t play that well in the NCAA tourney but 2 games doesn’t not a player make. Throughout his 2 years he’s been nothing but clutch. He’s not the athletic freak that a LeBron or Durant are, but I watched a… Read more »
Personally, I’ll take Deshaun Thomas, if he comes out, over Harrision “more obsessed with my brand than my game” Barnes. Guy disappears in big moments. Let’s just call him Marvin Williams 2.0. Let him retard the growth of some other organization.
True, he doesn’t. Or at least he hasn’t this season. But with Kyrie on the team, it shouldn’t be a major concern. The real concern is his defense and rebounding, which have been sub-par. Had he played up to expectations on those fronts, then taking him in the top 5 would make sense.
because he doesn’t create offense on his own
Why are people leaving out Barnes from this discussion? He is a pure scorer, creates offense on his own and will probably be going top 5.
The influx of Donald Sloan and Lester Hudson is exactly what this team needs. Without Irving or Varajeo this team has absolutely no chance of beating anyone save the miserable Bobcats. If I were Chris Grant I’d shut Irving and Andy down for the rest of the year. Don’t forget that Toronto OWNS us this year (3-0 v. the Ketchup and Mustard with one more matchup left). The end of the year could not be going any more perfectly. I know its tough now but believe me when we are in line to draft either Bradley Beal, MKG, Drummond, Davis,… Read more »
Equally funny, that was my thought before the season began. I believe I my formula for a high draft pick HAD to include an Andy-less rotation (via trade or injury–check), a volume Jamison shooting spree (check), and BIG minutes for Samardo, Harangody, Hollins, and co. (recently check, check, and check). Guess with the last two gone, things look even worse (better)… To be clear: I HATE hoping my teams lose, and I have cheered for the Cavs hard this season, but this end-of-the-season gauntlet of games is a blessing. Shut down Kyrie and don’t let Andy come off the injured… Read more »
@Matthew
Funny, that’s exactly what I was thinking when I looked at the standings today…I mean VERBATIM, lol.
Tonight’s line up of games looks nice. Detroit should get another game up on us as they face the Bobcats at home. The Nets play the Kings so one of them will get another win. Cavs most likely will lose, even if Irving plays. The Kings passed us in the standings with their win last night. If the Nets win, they’ll jump ahead of us in the standings. We might go from 8th place on Wednesday to 5th place on Saturday. I’m not sure if I see Toronto passing us in the standings, so I think it’s a safe bet… Read more »
