Live Thread: Cavs vs. Clippers (#HomeSweetHome?)
2016-01-21Three of the five members of “The Hoopers” will be on the court at Quicken Loans Arena tonight, as “Dad” and “Mom” will square off against their “Son” (“Grandpa” and “Baby” will be otherwise occupied). One of the stranger advertising campaigns of recent memory that joined two Clippers (Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan) with one “Cavalier” youngster (Kevin Love), will undoubtedly rule the commercial breaks when they face off tonight at 8pm (EST) on TNT.
For Love and the Cavs themselves, this game represents the start of a four game homestand in the aftermath of Monday’s holiday massacre. Hopefully, some home cooking, along with the palate-cleansing domination of the Brooklyn Nets last night, will get the wine & gold family back on the right track. The Clippers present a more adult-sized challenge, having won 11 of their past 12 (including going 10-1 minus their All-Star PF, Blake Griffin). CP3 has been downright paternal, guiding his Clipper clan to the fourth best record in the West, while teaming up with his brother-from-another-mother, J.J. Reddick to form one of the best backcourts in the league lately. And, speaking of mothers… DeAndre Jordan has been able to drag down nine straight double doubles (even without a wig and a dress).
This is an important game for Cleveland to re-establish their home court dominance against a quality Western Conference team. If they can defend well, share the ball, and keep turnovers to a minimum, they should come out on the winning end of this “family affair.” And the Hooper’s “son” can show he’s grown enough that he doesn’t ever need to hear about the “Hawks and the Hornets” again. Prediction: Cavs help Kev stand up to his “parents,” 111-102.
Cavs with 15 assists at half. That is refreshing to see!
Huh? Where was that foul?
Love KLoves agressiveness!
Great steal by delly
Lebron inbounds to Delly. I love easy buckets!
Great how the took their time on that sequence. All 5 players touched the ball
Dellllllllllllly great steal
Great movement there finish strong
Great ball movement!
Jinx Arch buy me a bottle of….
Love missed that bunny but almost has another Double Double at the half again.
Yep Making Mom proud!! Keep it going!!
Best TD play is on Cavs not Clowns
C’mon JR. Let’s not obviously push a 90% free throw shooter please.
Wooohooo love that play!
Nice hustle!!!!!!
sweet reverse there by LeBron and Delly
Freakin going up big Love for the boards
Mom and Dad getting mean with their son these last plays
Have they shown that commercial yet this game?
Yes In the beginning of game
On now.. The ring joke is funny
Especially Dad. He’s got 16 pts 4 asst 2 steals so far
Good to see Loce fly in to grab that rebound.
Lebron didn’t even bother to try blocking out.
Come on Love! You’ve gotta make those bunnies!
Should have tried the dunk
I understand not with his Mom standing there.
Love needs to make that shot.
about time they called that on Pierce he has been fouling
Love still aggressive, like it
Really sloppy possession by LeBron.
I don’t know how to act with an announcer actually saying a nice remark about Cavs . He isn’t bored that he MUST talk Golden State
Fratello is the ultimate Cavs apologist. Can he call all the national games??
I’ll take it. Heard enough trashing from JVG and Webber double team. We can take a compliment. I know it’s weird like Catholic guilt.
Tough to compliment a team that’s getting punked on their home floor though.
Have a beer. Relax a little.
Like the hustle to keep the offense
The JR floater!!!!!
Nice ft shooting by Thompson that is huge
TT has made all his FT’s
Love the move to put the Champ in… played excellent PnR defense, great rotation to bother Cole Aldredge shot in the paint for the fastbreak opportunity… great pass to Kyrie for the 3. He’s so smart and has rhythm with these guys.
He had a nice defensive play a few moments ago
Definitely… and I jinxed him because that was a bad pass to JR HAHA!
Playing a little better D now
Shump actually got that!! LoL
Shumpman!!!!!!!!!
Dig in Cavs or game slips away. Like what JJ just did there to Kyrie. Kept passing it back to him as if to say, “Take the shot you got that”
Delly’s had some turn over issues lately. Not huge, but just more than usual.
He only has 1. Love has 3.
He usually has zero.
With guys like Wesley Johnson (LAC) and Bismack Biyomb0 (TOR), i don’t understand why Cavs didn’t go after these $1 mil/$2mil guys in the offseason. Young athletic energy guys for the bench.
Biyombo is good indeed, but I prefer Jefferson to Johnson. He has no clue how to play. Constantly seems lost out there. No wonder he has bounced around with all those abilities of his.
Also, Biyombo wouldnt come to be the fourth big, as it seemed to be the case in the beginning of the season before Moz started playing like that. He is a starter playing major minutes in Toronto.
Kyrie’s shot is MIA.
He must of read my thought.
Cavs aren’t a very smart team.
Unless Paul plays the whole game, we probably win. He is tearing us apart, as he has every other team lately.
Fifty Shades of Black looks like a bottom 20 all time movie. I thought Wayans finished acting in the 90’s?
Looked ok for a parody.
Crawford hits the craziest shots…….
Yeah.. excellent defense there by Shump. Just better offense.
Not playing tough defense. Clips shooting 57%
LBJ got caught sleeping on that weak side cut… Shump lazy close out on Wesley Johnson although normally you let Johnson shoot that long 2.
At least the offense looks purposeful and crisp.
Crawford and JR, two guys who can shoot the ball.
Bad defense by Shump.
Cavs’ offense looks fantastic… KLOVE needs to stop turning the ball over… And the Cavs’ need to tighten up the defense a little.
Our PF’s are great at rebounding but are the slowest at getting shots off.
This game feels real boring for a national broadcast. It’s like the Q is still sad over Monday’s performance.
Stupid pass!!!!!!!
But Delly is the dirty player?? Smh
Pocket passes in traffic to Moz isn’t the best idea Bron.
Love should be able to get those all day vs Pierce.
Yes, and also pass to a cutting teammate or spin to the left and use his left hand. Going with the right hook all the time is predictable and teams can and do steal the ball from him there a lot.
And as I was typing, Love attempts to hit Lebron with a pass.
meant spin to the right and use the left.
Nice to have a different announcer from JVG. If only Marv would shut up
I think LeBron needs to attack quick. He’s always waiting for double teams that never come.
I’m rolling in laughter on the Hoopers intro ! Yes Kev, show them you are all grown up!!
Paul is a bit of a flopper!
Not a good example for his son tonight!
Uh, phantom foul on Irving. Why does it always seem like the Cavs are the away team when playing on their own court in terms of fouls?
That was a reputation/star call for Paul.
Love should have hooked that!
Nice D by Mozgov…….
Mozzy with the nice lob breakup!
Another reputation call on JR!
OMG LeBron not taking a Tech!
He never takes them when Kyrie is on the floor.
Pretty sure thats the first time its happened this season…
Nope. Just happened last game or two.
Love should be able to back down Pierce. But he didn’t do it there.
We’ll see if the Cavs continue to play with the same pace they play last game.
So far they are moving the ball well.
Voters got it right regarding Lowry over Kyrie. Our dude crapped the bed in the three biggest games this year (GSW, SAS, GSW). Next year, Ky…
It’s much more than that. He hasn’t played enough games back.
Good evening CtB! Your numbers for tonight:
CLE is a 6.5 point favorite over LAC with an o/u @ 202. Heavy smart money favorite on the UNDER, and a CLE cover is a slight smart money bet. There’s been late action on LAC, which is tilting the CLE cover to Vegas’ favor.
I’ll take CLE 104-97 over LAC… The numbers are suggesting a defensive battle and a healthy CLE win.
GO CAVS!!!
Cleveland has a 66% chance of winning.
Nice.. interesting information there Arch… that would convert to a 4-4.5 point spread. So that explains the late action on LAC’s side.
I think the late action on LAC/probability percentage represents a slight over-reaction by the betting public to CLE’s loss to GSW.
Does FTS kiss every national reporter or other teams reporter’s butt?
I wonder if the Cavs will only have 1 all-star… Honestly, I don’t really care a whole lot.
I don’t care about anything but June. As long as they keeping working and improving their team play, I’m happy.
Let’s go!
Well done Tom on another great interview on Dayton – and congratulations on your news! Looking forward to the future on CtB.
