Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers
2017-02-08The Cavs are in Indiana tonight for game three of their four game road trip. So far, they have beaten the Wizards in overtime without LeBron James, who fouled out just 47 seconds into extra time, and they have held off the Knicks, despite blowing a 27 point lead. The Cavs aren’t necessarily playing their best ball of the year quite yet, but they are showing they can hang in tough games.
The Pacers are led by Paul George, who is averaging 22.5 points and a hair over six rebounds a night. He’s hitting 38% of his deep shots. His teammate, Myles Turner, is proving to be a sophomore standout in this league. He’s averaging 15.5 a night, and he’s hitting 38.8% of his long attempts. He’s also averaging 2.3 blocks and 7.2 boards. He is the new idea of power forward in the NBA. He can protect the rim, and spread the floor, while still being able to get out on smaller guys.
This game should be a good one, as LeBron James and Paul George covering each other always results in drama.
The Cavs are without Iman Shumpert. The Pacers are without Thad Young.
LIG!!
Liggins!!
WOW! Love that play by Ky and LBJ to kick off second half…
The last few games Korver has shown solid effort on D, and hasn’t been a huge liability
James playing lazy defense (especially early in the game) is hardly news. He & Kyrie aren’t going to get a “Mr. Box Out” title anytime soon. Still, despite all that, only down 6.
McRae & Liggins are shutting me up on wanting Lance Stephenson. Hope they keep it up.
Wherefore the rebounding? Thought the Pacers were one of the worst rebounding teams in the league?
They’re third worst in the League to be exact… ahead of only NOP and DAL…
Threezus and Mamba in effect tonight??
The 1 three McRae missed was in & out.
Kind of like his role in the rotation… (sorry, softball)
Just getting caught up… Looks like CJ up to his old tricks vs his old team…
Couple thoughts. Wow Big Al J has put on some weight. Starting to remind me of late career Oliver Miller. Second. Our defensive rotations are god awful. They look like they have no idea where they are supposed to rotate. So many times since December this team just plain loses people on defense. Effort hasn’t looked great over the last month but the team also looks lost on d. Not sure that happens all of a sudden.
Campy showing defensive lapses, and a few of the bad ones were LeBron.
Ouch. Campy’s halftime highlights are all LeBron losing his man.
Good run at the end to cut it to six at half. We need to work harder on the glass (14-25) & stop some of the silly fouls & we should have a shot. McRae & Liggins have 11 on 4-6 FG & 3-5 from deep (combined). Love & Irving are 0-4 apiece from deep. If they hit some deep ones, & I think they will, we can take ’em.
Nice close. Thank God they didn’t get the ball to George more.
Good call there.
CJ is killing us.
Where was that call on Stuckey’s jumper?
On the good side: McRae, Liggins, & Felder have played pretty good.
Cavs almost doubled on the boards 25-13. And Pacers near the bottom in rebounding
McRae with a great three then brainfarting through the next four plays on both ends of the court.
They’re stringing out Kyrie when he goes baseline and no one is giving him a passing angle to beat the double.
Up to 9 from 5 without them making a hoop. :( Let’s close strong.
Well, nice charge to get it to 4-5 a couple times. We got 3 happy. Then another silly foul on a 3.
Traveling there not called. Frye’s 2 pt game is off. More OR issues from us (Kyrie there). Up 10 again.
Ugh the rebounding
Korver playing well
Korver for 3. We needed that.
James has missed 2-3 layups tonight. Kyrie returns.
Come on RJ. Three free one for PG13. FT parade for them lately. McRae enters.
James missing layups tonight
Good hustle play from Felder there. We’ve had some issues inside. Contact let go under our hoop, not on theirs.
Well, we had a nice start to cut it to 6. 11 now.
Ellis goes to the line on a guft
Fry hammered no call.
Felder might be the greatest 5-8 screen setter in the world.
That’s why we drafted him. (rolls eyes)
Even kay chucks the roller better than Kyrie.
I think we should call this line up Four men and a Baby.
Lol
We are 9-20 on FGs. That isn’t the issue. Pacers are at 60% and the OR rate is 7/10. That’s weak.
36 points allowed. Another double digit deficit for the Cavs to overcome.
Cool try there from Love & Kyrie wit 0.7 left.
Closed the quarter well.
Cavs are getting punked on the boards.
I think we left our defense on the plane. Can we call the airline to check?
10 misses. 7 OR.
9 misses. 6 OR.
Again to me the main issue with the Cavs this season is that they let their offense dictate their defense. As soon as they get cold and the other team gets into a nice scoring rally the Cavs defensive intensity goes down.
They get a 2nd chance every time they miss.
Cavs in cement boots on the boards
Let’s get it to 10 or less for the 2nd quarter. We need to move the rock more. We have James at the 2 right now. They have Teague & Ellis in the game. Let’s exploit that on the other end.
Ugh. Mr. Hyde version of the Cavs to start the game.
“UNEXPECTED INVASION ” BY THE GRANDKIDS —–WILL BE A “NO SHOW ” TONIGHT —ON THE PLUS — BOYS BOUGHT BE A 6 PACK OF ALSAKAN PALE IPA —–HOLD THE FORT DOWN ( I WILL DO THE SAME )–MIGHT BE BACK LATER ——” COMING KIDS ” !!
Try the freestyle
Make or miss league. Cavs missing. Pacers makin.
And getting killed on the boards overall, and particularly on the O boards
We are getting spanked.
At beginning of the season I thought the Pacers would be one of the teams that would give the Cavs some problems.
Really poor D on that switch, as James & Love stick on Teague & leave Allen altogether.
How many steps on that Ellis drive? 5?
Well, that good start is fading fast.
LeBron applied a new coat of spray on hair
James makes a nice move & misses the layup. PG13 warming up.
Cavs getting back in transition better
Yes, they are finally doing it.
Yeah, I miss CJ too. He’s 3-3 from deep & we are still with them as Love-fest at the FT line continues.
5 pts & 2 steals for Liggins. I’m sure Cols will rag on him in 3, 2, 1,
3J! I miss that guy
Liggins really
Needs to figure out how to play offense.
Yeah, cause that layup really sucked. Cols714 needs to figure out how to drink less,
Yeah, that was a terrible 3 Liggins just hit.
Nevet
Well, we wasted Liggins’ steal. Good TT with a dime to Liggins. Good start. 12-5 with Liggins as a starter.
I love how warriors fan lived at this site in January when Cavs struggled a bit. But now that Braymond is braying at Durant and the Cavs are winning nowhere to be found. When are the rest of you going to catch on to his game?
Bummed to have to miss this game, will catchup in a few hours. Hope it’s worthy of a replay! Go Cavs.
We never play well at Indiana in the regular season. I’d rather re-watch the Wizards game and the christmas day massacre game on repeat until the playoffs start.
Lost 12 of last 13 at Indy. Yikes. Lets turn that around. Hope James make them sorry they saw him tonight. Careful what you wish for, Indy fans.
Go Cavs. Hope Ligs can bring the D tonight. We know LeBron has been much better from 3 pt range, but I didn’t know this much better. From @TheHerd show, last year James only hit 12.5% from deep in the 4th quarter, which was dead last in the NBA. This year, he is shotting 43% in the 4th quarter (which is top ten), and a better average than Curry, Klay and KD. Overall, James is shooting 37.4% vs KD at 36.9%. James ability to hit from long range led to 41/41 pts in games 5 and 6 of The Finals;… Read more »
