The Cavs welcome the Orlando Magic, one of the new darlings of the NBA, to the shores of Lake Erie for a massive Eastern Conference battle. The Magic are 9-1 in their last 10 games. So, if the Cavs were able to hold serve tonight, it should serve as a big confidence booster for a team such as the Cavs that has been mired in mediocrity to start the season.
In order for the Cavs to secure victory, their putrid offense will have to overcome one of the best defenses in the NBA, with the Magic ranked 3rd in defensive efficiency. It would be a good time for the Cavs to start launching some threes given Orlando’s size, but that would require a wholesale change in the Cavs’ approach on offense. We’ll see what happens… one thing the Cavs can do to jump start their offense is exploit Orlando’s penchant for turnovers, since the Magic are prone to them (bottom five in the NBA in turnover rate).
