2024-03-22Happy Friday, Cavs Fans. And yes, the site is back up. Cleveland takes on a Timberwolves squad tonight that they were gifted a win against a few weeks ago when Rudy Gobert got a rare technical with less than 30 seconds left and the Cavs managed to eke out a win. Tonight, Cleveland hosts a T-Wolves squad missing are missing KAT who’s out indefinitely with a meniscus issue, and Jaylen Clark. Cleveland is missing DM, Wade, Strus, Evan Mobley, and Ty Jerome. Minnesota has won three of the last four while the Cavs are 3-4 in their last seven and have a tough time cobbling wins together. We’ll see how this one goes. Let’s hope it goes Cavs.

I think the most likely trade is something involving Wade and the pick and some filler, perhaps Vert as a salary match if you trust CPJ and Jerome as serviceable backup PGs. You might luck out and get a good opportunity for another good wing or third big for that. The off-season questions seem easy. Ice is definitely getting re signed, Mobley is getting a max extension and Spida gets whatever he wants or they move him at the deadline or before to where he’d like to be (or they take the best package on offer before then). The clock is ticking on this season. But you can’t force mojo or health. If we have a plateau year because our starters had fewer than 25 games together that is bad. This wasn’t a championship team this year and won’t be next year, it’s a 50+ win team that needs breaks to have a punchers chance. And this is a no breaks year. Can’t have it both ways. Need to manufacture wins and CPJ has been invisible in the last four games. Usually, he gets a shift to see if he can do anything. If he can’t, he sits that game and the next. I think that’s the right way to use him.
He really doesn’t threaten the defense at all yet. He will eventually but right now he’s a twelfth man.

if the Cavs are playing good, they will probably be in the ECF, if they are playing bad, they will lose in the first round.

He’s a fully realized version of sexton, with a better jumper
Garland seems to believe that he is a lot better than he is. It leads to hero ball, over dribbling, and bad decision making. He thinks he is on the level of DM, but he’s just not that close. I think we all saw him take a major step forward and sign a big contract with expectations that he’d get better, but instead he’s just stagnated. More than anyone, I would be looking to trade him to find a better fitting piece in the off-season, especially if DM can be convinced to re-sign.
This might relate to the attitude I was referring to earlier. The passive-aggressive antics he carries on with most times he gets called for obvious fouls is indicative of a player who thinks he is better than he is. Or maybe he’s trying and is frustrated with coming up short. I dunno, but it’s fairly clear that his trajectory is definitely lowered this season. It’s s really difficult to see what kind of player he’s gonna be in 5 years.
I think so much of it is a refusal to coach him. They just let him run around thr whole third quarter like a chicken with his head cut off to predictable results. They desperately need a new coach. It’s just time.
You may be right, but with 2nd in the East before injuries mounted as his track record – hard to see that happening.
Who’s the upgrade? JB has been inconsistent but there’s a lot of black on his ledger – he’s not as good as the Cavs broadcast team thinks but he’s like the Cavs – top 10 ish but closer to 10 than 1.
My worry is we wind up with like a retread or a risky never-was or a Gilbert experimental special. Overreacting to take another step back
We have needed him to be like three different players during his time here. He’s doing a lot of what the team needs long term. He’s really good going through a really hard year. It’s happened to his draft classmates as well (Zion, JA, and RJ aren’t like models of consistency). We need to learn a lesson in patience from Allen, who the whole commentariat was going to trade eight months ago. You don’t sell low on young players. I’m a fan of all of the core guys and the front office. Aesthetically I love DGs game and ceiling but understand that it’s not for everyone.

He is young and has a ton of money and seems to have his head somewhere else most of the time.
I can’t believe Conley is still playing, which makes it all the more disappointing that he is able to waltz into the key for layups against the Cavs.
Morris seems a little inactive at the offensive end. Watching potential rebounds float past him.

The way we played this quarter.. we are lucky to be down ONLY 6.
Cavs had 7 turnovers (5 steals) that led to 11 Wolves points while the Wolves only turned it over ONCE.
Also gave up 18 points (9/12) in the paint to the Wolves.
Not sure what JB is thinking here with 8 man rotation with Garland 4-16 and minus ten. How much worse could CPJ be?
