The Cavs welcome what is left of the Dallas Mavericks to the banks of the Cuyahoga River as the good guys face off against the team that made global shockwaves over the past 12 hours as the Mavs have decided to dump off Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in what might be the biggest trade in NBA history. This will be the world’s first look at the post-Luka Mavs and they’ll get to face off against the best team in the NBA.
For the Cavs, the Luka trade is a massive distraction and could cause a letdown for a team lacking in professionalism. Luckily for us fans, the Cavs have rang the bell time and time again whenever a trap game has popped up. This Mavs game certainly qualifies given the double digit spread before tip. Can the Cavs demoralize the Mavs quickly and sharply and get to Jaylon Tyson point guard minutes? Stay tuned…

Okay, call me stupid and crazy, but I’m wondering if this maybe isn’t as bad of a trade as initially though. Once you get past the shock of the Mavs trading a top 3 player for not a whole lot in return … The Mavs are getting a respectable top 20 player in return (injury proneness aside) and he fills a position they need. Kyrie can now be solidified as the PG and Klay could move back into the SG role. That seems like a legitimate big 3 there, although Kyrie and Klay are a little long in the tooth.… Read more »
I don’t think you are crazy or stupid. Davis is the best 2 way C in the league and probably the 2nd best 2-way big (Giannis).
And while Luka is amazing, I’d take Jokic, Giannis, and SGA before him. Probably Tatum and a healthy Embiid as well.
The part I don’t get is not shopping around more.
Still, the list of C/PF types I’d take over AD is pretty darn short: Jokic and Giannis. Maybe Wemby on potential. I think that is it.
Yeah if you want a player for Luka (instead of a bunch of picks and guys) AD is as good as it gets.
Be interesting to see how a huge lineup plays OKC too
I think the Mavs have beaten them twice as is. But Washington at the 3, AD at the 4, and Lively/Gafford at the 5 may be challenging in terms of spacing.
But it might also save tread on AD’s tires snd they can downsize for the post-season. But big line-uos can work (Cavs, Cavs wirh Big Finnish, KAT/Rudy T’Wolves, etc.).
