The Point-Fourward: Cause and Effect
2017-09-06Four points I’m thinking about the NBA…
1. Whenever I finish a particularly good book, I have a brief sense of sadness. It is such a lovely thing to be lost (or found) in a completely different universe where characters truly are at the mercy of an all powerful deity. An author’s authority to give fictional heroes a concrete reason for everything that happens is a delightful change from our existence on this very round (sorry Kyrie) bit of floating rock.
“Everything happens for a reason.”
Nope. Everything happens because of a reason.
Reason = Cause
Everything that happens = Effect.
In our world, meaning is often retroactively assigned to action. We invent logical rationale after seemingly irrational actions in order to maintain our belief in civilized behavior. We placate our sense of doubt by trying to create higher purpose. We take credit for all the good and assign the bad to some esoteric entity. Instead of sorting through a difficult reality, we somewhat pessimistically claim that that reality was by the hand of something greater than us.
In a book, the Cavs’ 2016 Championship was destined. The turmoil during the season was simply a plot device to set the stage for coming glory. David Griffin’s assertion that the Cavaliers enjoyed and thrived through turmoil is an interesting twist for the reader. Will our protagonists make it? By the time we arrive to the greatest shot in Finals history, the reader is primed for elation, but wracked with anxiety.
In a book, all of those causes were necessary. There is no championship without the turmoil. There is no glory without the anxiety. Since it actually went down that way in real life, we indulge in the “Butterfly Effect” without examining the necessity of it all.
Everything that happened to the 2016 squad was right because it produced a championship. From sub-tweets and Blatt’s removal, to Shumpert playing over Delly, it was right because they won. How very Leibnizian, this being the “Best of All Possible Worlds.”
But was it? Could it be that the Cavs could have won 70 games and steamrolled the Warriors without all the nonsense? Maybe had Tyronn Lue played different lineups, the series would have been done in five. Why is barely winning beyond reproach? Why is barely losing a complete failure? How much of that sentiment is the result of causation confusion?
Our society focuses so much on outcome that “process” became a catch phrase for one of the few people on planet Earth who planned for the future. Sam Hinkie made one awful draft pick(Okafur over Porzingis), but he was otherwise a brilliant GM. Simply understanding Cause and Effect made him so. How sad is that?
With that, I officially say goodbye to the Kyrie Irving era. He is the most fictional of real characters that I have come across. A test case for causality. It’s impossible to know whether his non-big-game laziness on the defensive end is the brilliant execution of long-term pragmatism or just run-of-the-mill narcissism. Has he always simply been pragmatic enough to save his energy? No matter how talented, there is no way that one with that offensive skill-set could actually be lazy. Is it that his ego necessitates the big game? Unless it is about him, it just isn’t. Pragmatically narcissistic? Is that a thing?!
If Brad Stevens can get Kyrie to actually run his offense, we will have a better idea of Kyrie’s true character. If Kyrie walks the ball up, takes 13 dribbles into an impossible shot that he somehow makes, then lazily jogs back on defense while his man scores a layup, we will know that Kyrie is the Cause and not the Effect.
2. Finally something is causing Cavs fans to smile. My man, Cedi Osman has been showing out in the 2017 Eurobasket. The Turkish wing began the tournament by dropping 28 points against a tough Russian squad. While most of his points came from the stripe, it wasn’t charity that got him there. His consistent aggression to the rim earned him 15 freebies. Defensively, the young man is relentless. You have no doubt already seen his best LeBron James impersonation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdqmGi4nqIE
Cedi has very active hands and anticipates passing lanes well. I have mostly compared him to a combination of Mathew Dellavedova and pre-injury Chandler Parsons. Cedi’s form on his jumper is pure. If he can eliminate the occasional left fade on this jump, his three for five success against Russia could be frequently repeated.
Though Cedi hasn’t scored as much in subsequent games, his all-round skill-set has been on display. Osman often works as the primary ball-handler for Turkey’s Pick and Roll game. He has a good hesitation dribble going left after he turns the corner. He has also shown the vision to skip pass to the opposite wing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV6MZ4h47Cc
I’ve been bullish on Osman since I first started scouting him for the 2015 draft. Cedi is an intangibles/glue-guy type player. Seeing him erupt every now and then is fun, but what is more promising is his defensive effort and consistency. Cavs fans may have a new favorite player before long.
3. Of course, we don’t yet know who Cedi’s competition will be. Since acquiring the Nets pick, the Cavaliers reportedly have had multiple trade suitors. The players most frequently mentioned in the rumors are Iman Shumpert and DeMarcus Cousins. I’m not usually one to go too far down the Trade Machine rabbit hole, but I did enjoy creating a trade that netted the Cavs Boogie Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Jared Dudley for the price of Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Kay Felder, Iman Shumpert, and all the Cavs 2018 draft capital. One might balk at trading both the Nets and Cavs 2018 first round picks, but I value established productivity over theory.
Tyronn Lue could play some serious bully-ball with Boogie, Bledsoe, Dudley and Crowder on the squad. Those guys are all incredibly strong. Bruiser teams like the 2015 Cavs and Grizzlies have presented the Warriors problems in the past. Boogie is actually a better defender than Tristan Thompson and obviously offers more offensive range. A giant lineup consisting of Cousins, Love, Crowder, Korver and Bron could give teams real trouble on the glass. Any quick point guard would hesitate before entering that paint.
4. Even as the roster is currently constructed, the Cavs do have some real positional flexibility. What remains to be seen is whether Tyronn Lue can take advantage of it. Derrick Rose is likely to torpedo whatever kind of offensive sets that Lue will wish to run. He and Carmelo Anthony were the main culprits in short-circuiting the Knicks offense last year. I don’t expect Rose to magically decide to properly set off-ball screens or pass up tough driving layups. What I do expect is for Lue to have the confidence and authority to take the ball out of Rose’s hands.
Kevin Love will have to become a main playmaker again for the Cavs to have a shot at offensive efficiency. He fared well last season in his minutes without LeBron and Kyrie. Lue should lean hard on Love’s mid-post passing. A lineup of Love, Crowder, Cedi, Kyle, and JR could be functional against most second units. All are good to great team defenders, even if they occasionally struggle in their one-on-one assignments. Their shooting ranges could open up a lot of off-ball dives to the basket as teams struggle to jump over screens.
At the moment, I’m not going to include Isaiah Thomas, Iman Shumpert, or Kay Felder in any rotation speculation. I doubt the latter two will be on the roster come November and the questions surrounding IT’s health have been more than well-documented.
Still, it is nice to think about things like lineup rotations again. The drama of the NBA off-season may be entertaining at times, but I am more than ready to finish this book. It’s certainly not one to inspire any sadness upon its completion. Good riddance.
AND WHO ARE HIS TURKEY TEAMMATES AND WHO WILL BE HIS CAVS TEAMMATES —-NOT BEING THE ” MAIN” MAN WILL LESSEN THE PRESSURE AND ALLOW NOT BEING KEYED / DEFENDED AS MUCH
I agree. The question is if Lebron and Lue agree as well.
Actually, Osman had 8 pts, 4 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals, & 3 TOs. Not saying he didn’t play poorly, but if you are gonna post the stats, get them correct. On the bright side, despite the poor offense, he still played 31 minutes, 2nd on the team . If he’d have been awful on D as well, he would have got yanked.
Sorry, you are correct. Not every boxscore is accurate when it comes to Euro basketball. I chose the wrong one.
Cedi plays a lot by default, the Turkish team is really short on guards. And yes, he tried, as always, on D, but he was truly nonexistent on O.
Cedi was awful today. Turkey was predictably eliminated by Spain in the knockout round, though they put up a noble fight and they lost by a couple of Rubio threes of all people. Cedi finished with just 6 points with 3 turnovers and 4 assists. He also was – 14. He looked completely out of place against the legit Spanish NBAers.
Young players are inconsistent. When things go poorly, they often get frustrated & it snowballs. That got Osman today. Especially on offense.
Rubio will be a monster this year.
Would you trade the Brooklyn pick for him?
RAOUL—HAVE A BUCKEYE SEASON TICKET HOLDER TELL ME THE SAME THING—WHEN BURROWS IS HEALTHY –HE WILL START—ONLY THING HOLDING THIS DECISION BACK IS URBAN’S DEEP LOYALTY TO HIS SENIORS
Barrett was pretty poor last year and no better this year. When you have a team capable of winning it all, not using your best QB two years in a row is a bit much for loyalty to seniors.
So what do you think about them Buckeyes? Not sure how UM plans to win the NCAAF title with a QB that can’t pass. I was wondering that last year too. Someone needs to tell him it is 2017.
JT Barrett’s awful lol. So is Speight for that matter…. neither are very accurate.
Livingston is speculating that Joe Burrows hand will be healed by the start of Big 10 play and he will start. He should have started last year. He was better when he was in 10th grade than Barrett is now.
Bucks lost a lot of talent on D from last year. Especially LBs & secondary. Young guys aren’t there yet. The offense is plodding & prdictable with little of the misdirection and inventiveness Oklahoma showed. Bucks could easily finish 3rd in their DLdivision nehind PSU & Michigan. Or could improve & win it.
Never thought I would write this 2-3 months ago when the Cavs still had Irving and the Tribe was treading water: I actually like the Indians’ chance to win a chip this year more than the 2017=2018 Cavs. With Bauer, Carrasco and Klubot pitching the next three, the Indians might actually make it 20 in a row.
They have a good chance. Then we will be hoping for 21!
The Tribe is so fun to watch. The fact that we are doing this with 3 all-stars on the DL is pretty incredible. Not to mention the plethora of other injuries we’ve had. Chiz was arguably our best hitter before he was hurt (led the team in RBIs in 50% of the ABs).
If Miller gets back healthy for the playoffs, I don’t see us losing.
Lot of high quality teams this year. Dodgers. Cubs. Astros. Nats. All very good.
Good thing they are all in the NL! Dodgers appear to be majorly flailing, I think they are 1 – 9 for their last 10. Hard to know if that is a fluke, or there is as real problem.
Not the Astros. Astros could be very tough.
Edge of 17.
Sad to see Salazar get moved to the pen for the rest of the year. Had an excellent stretch over the summer where he was looking like an all-star again. Kluber + Carrasco + Salazar is 3 really nasty guys + the guile from Clevenger & Bauer. Tomlin is OK. I really wanted 3 guys with ace level stuff for the POs.
Is he officially in the pen for the rest of the season? Injuries have really sucked for him. Last season pre-ASB he was the best pitcher in baseball. He was unhittable. Then he had the shoulder issue his final 2 starts pre-ASB and got lit up. He came back post-ASB and never got it together.
This year, like you said, he was pitching fantastic again. Then the sore elbow, and bam… lost it again. I just don’t think he’s a guy that can throw starter innings. Maybe he becomes an elite reliever.
He pitched well for 2 weeks. The rest of the season he stunk. He was basically unplayable from all-star break last year, until all-star break this year. Some of it is injury related, but the rest is between the ears. I hope they move him in the offseason.
I think it’s all injury related. When a pitcher has repeated arm issues, it’s hard to expect them not to adjust their mechanics at least a little bit. Once a pitcher adjusts his mechanics, it’s pretty difficult to be as good as you were before. I think that’s a huge reason he’s been so “meh” since pre-ASB last season. The mental aspect could be it too – perhaps stemming from the injuries? I would also move him in the offseason if you received a lot in return. Unfortunately, I don’t think pitchers with arm issues are super valuable. The best… Read more »
Salazar is a head case. Wouldn’t trust him in the post season as a starter.
I think they’ll be ok – in a seven game series, you can count on Kluber and Carrasco for two games each (maybe Kluber for 3 games) and then get by with Clevenger and Bauer. If Salazar can provide anything in the bullpen as a bridge to Miller/Allen, it’s a win. Miller is the guy they need to make sure is absolutely healthy before they bring him back.
Luca Doncic with 14/10/6 as Slovenia rolls into the QFs despite Dragic only gettig 5. Germany (Schroder & Theis) over France (Fournier, Diaw, De Colo, Lauvergne, Seraphin). Belinelli lead Italy over Finland. 4th QF going right now: Greece v Lithuania. Greek Freak is injured & not playing. His brother is on the team.
You really high on Doncic huh?
Vegas aside, good stuff from the Browns, the FO, & CPD.
LINDOR!!!!
The players had to start that. Look at the way Vegas PD reacted to Bennett. Blue mafia in some places. No accountability in others. That has to change. The law cannot be above the law.
I am under the impression there are different versions of what happened. Do you have inside info? Or did you take a side and rant?
May our beautiful, dear country be blessed and united.

I like 16 as a number. I like 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 better. 16 is an underrated number though. Everyone should love 16.
Even though the Indians are well past it, 11 is a very good number. Maybe the best number of all.
I like 9,999,999,999,999,999!
I want the Tribe to get passed Oakland’s record of 20 in a row from 2002, then we can say Oakland blew a 20 game in a row streak.
Can’t get enough of the tribe right now. Can’t wait to start seeing the Cavaliers at the games again. As soon as they get back from Bron’s SoCal precamp we will. Fun time to be in The Land. Go Cavs go Tribe
Kyrie will show up in a Red Sox cap.
GO TRIBE !!!
I thought for sure the Indians would lose tonight. First inning up 3-0. I wish the World Series was starting now.
Has LeBron made any welcoming statement about the new guys? Has he after past trades? This is slightly disconcerting considering the event of welcoming everyone except Wiggins when he returned. He ought to be happy about this trade.
He’s planning a parade in front of Dan Gilbert’s helicopter.
Reports Lue and Lebron ‘cooled’ off after knowing about injury. Most you get is this.
https://twitter.com/AmicoHoops/status/905834758462210049
Why would he cool off with Lue? Lue isn’t the gm or owner.
May be because they are not getting a healthy all star back and he has to coach the team to finals.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2730813-lebron-james-tyronn-lue-reportedly-cooled-on-isaiah-thomas-trade-after-exam
Oh I thought LBJ had cooled on Lue.
They got Crowder who plays like an all star
Yummy Amico paint chips!
I like to make fun of Amico as much as anyone, but IT said that LBJ reached out to him and Jae after trade and is excited. Do we think IT is lying?
Koby challenges IT to make the all-nba first team next season… hard hill to climb if he’s missing at least a month. Plus adjusting to the Cavs, PLUS sharing the court with Bron and Love.
Cavs win 60+ games with IT averaging 35Pts, 10 assists at 50% FG should do it. He has to average 35 pts at >50%FG to make up for what he gives on other end.
lol you sure are a little rascal, aren’t you?
How else you think Isaiah can make all NBA 1st team ? And keep the insult to yourself.
Lol sorry did not mean any insult by it. Just a playful jest. Your comment is obviously ridiculous though, he’s not MJ or Wilt.
A month or 9 months.
http://www.espn.com/blog/nba/rumors/post/_/id/44706/rumor-central-john-holland-agrees-to-sign-with-cavaliers
CLF THANK YOU FOR SHARING—YES JR HAS DEVELOPED INTO THE ” GLUE ” GUY ON THIS TEAM —GREAT TO SEE HIS TRANSFORMATION SINCE HE HAS JOINED THE CAVS !
Agree about JR. He is a good example of an athlete with various troubles in his early years who not only got it together as he got older, but transformed to great teammate.
Our local pipe-fitter is one of my favorite players on the team. Probably second to KLove
You’re welcome! Agree with all of you. I think JR has a bit of a “bounceback” year given that he was injured last year.
HOPEFULLY ( 1 AREA THAT TY NEEDS IMPROVEMEMNT ) IS HIS ROTATIONS / MINUTES / GIVING GUYS CONFIDENCE–LETTING PLAY THRU SOME MISTAKES DURING THE SEASON
Hopefully Lue will inject more structure to the offense with Kyrie gone & IT out. With James in the game, he is so good & smart that the offense hums with him pulling the strings or even with him as a decoy. When he sits, things sputter, even with someone of Irving’s talent (hogging) the ball. The stats make this obvious.
We don’t need Rose to imitate Irving’s 40% usage when Bron sits. Attack, sure. But use Love, JR, Korver, Frye, TT, Crowder & the others more. They can play too.
Don’t know if y’all caught this but I’m lovin it: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ftw/2017/09/07/jr-smith-posts-heartfelt-video-message-to-wish-kevin-love-a-happy-birthday/105364526/
The NFL season has gotten off to a really good start!
Another amazing thing about the Indians is the guys that came up from AA and AAA this year. They would all be starters for the White Sox. At the end tonight, the outfield was Allen, Zimmer, and Naquin. That might be the fastest outfield ever assembled. And, Ureshela, Lindor, Ramirez, and Santana might be the best fielding infield in Indians history. The only other contender is XXX (guy we got from Detroit?), Omar, Alamar, and Thome.
Santana should definitely get consideration for a gold glove along with Lindor obviously. Ramirez probably could have too had there not been so many injuries and he had played at 3rd the whole season.
What does his UZR show?
I don’t know how UZR is calc’ed, but I hope it takes into account astounding plays that hardly anyone else makes.
I actually like Ramirez at second better than at third. I think that is his best position. And Ureshela is better than anyone at third, although his bit leaves a bit to be desired. Tito is going to have some fun decisions to make about who makes the playoff roster. A possible injury to Diaz tonight will also be a factor.
Ramirez has been outstanding at third too. However, I meant, for the award voters, he probably needed to be at one position most of the year to be realistically considered for it. Ureshela is an amazing fielder but can really struggle at the plate at this level.

https://twitter.com/castrovince/status/905992519095373824
If Lindor doesn’t get a shot at the cycle because Santana just grounded into a double play…
Okay I’m calling this one. Tribe win 15 straight. Free windows!
Apparently they’re never going to lose again. Will be unusual going into the postseason on a 37-game winning streak. Can they catch the Dodgers? Might be “only” 8 games back after tonight.
And time for the bullpen tonight. Yes, the minutes police can also be the innings police!
Kluber is just filthy.
Yup. At 31 my back hurt. He’s making fools out of elite athletes.
George Hill ranks #23 in RPM. I’m all on board of trading the Brooklyn pick for Hill in December.
You could have the RPM lineup with Hill, Crowder, LeBron, and Love. All ranked in the top 23.
Hill is not worth anywhere close to the Brooklyn pick…Not opposed to trying to get him but definitely not for the Brooklyn pick…
He’d be an all star in the east.
He’s a solid role player backup PG on a good team heading into the downside of his career with an injury history…he’s not worth more than a late first and shumpert at the most and is not really an all star anywhere…Lowry, Irving , wall, IT, dragic, kemba walker, Avery Bradley etc. are all better than him in the east…
Lowry, Wall, and Kyrie are better. Bradley is a SG. IT is NOT better!
I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree…I feel like you’re either way overrating Hill or we’re talking about different players…
You could argue some of those players are better scorers, but not necessarily better players. Anyways, agree to disagree.
I’m not saying I don’t like the fit…I think he would be a solid addition to the Cavs but definitely not for the Brooklyn pick…
BTW there’s a good chance that the Cavs select a bust with the Brooklyn pick, if they actually use it.
I don’t care if they use it or not but it could be flipped for a lot more value than George Hill…
I’m all on board if they are able to get more for the Brooklyn pick!
He gets hurt too much. Wilted under pressure as Indy’s PG vs Miami in ECF. No thanks. I’d trade our 1st for him. Plus Shump.
I don’t think he’d have to carry as much of a load on this team. He also won a championship with the Spurs.
You are over geeking on rpm. Use some common sense. Over 30. Oft injured. Not a starter when IT is healthy. Has history of choking in the postseason. When did he win with SA, 2007?
He’s not a guy that will carry your offensive load. He makes smart decisions, little mistakes, and plays good defense. He would be a perfect fit with LeBron, and if the Cavs were smart they would start him over IT, because he’s better than IT.
The Brooklyn pick for Hill? That’s just silly. Hill is a good player when healthy. He’s over 30 and probably on the downside of his peak.
A late first rounder and a role player are the most I’d offer. He’s worth watching.
Okay so they throw in Fox, do you do it?
A potential top 3 overall pick for George Hill? What is happening….
Why? We have D. Rose. Aren’t they almost the same at this point.
Not remotely.
I was already stoked about the attitude and toughness that IT and Crowder will bring to the Cavs and after watching the press conference today I feel even more excited about the kind of work ethic and commitment to basketball they bring…Stand up high character guys who will ball out at all times…
I KNOW I KEEP REPEATING MYSELF BUT STILL WOULD LIKE THE CAVS TO SIGN “ENCHILADA ” AND GIVE HIM AN HONEST SHOT/ DESERVED MINUTES —–BELIEVE HE WOULD COME CHEAP
Me too. Coach Lue did him/the team a disservice by not using him more and giving those minutes to Shump.
If you were Cols, Nate would have made you stop by now :). But yes I liked Dwill – too bad about TLue not knowing how to coach tho
LIKE THE NEW PLAYERS CEDI/ CROWDER / HOPEFULLY IT/ AND EVEN ANTE—-THEY BRING A CERTAIN ATTITUDE / COMPETITIVENESS / HUSTLE THAT WE MAY HAVE LACKED LAST YEAR ——I COULD SEE CAVS SIGNING TAVARES BEFORE FELDER ( 2 WAY CONTRACT—OR EVEN SIR DOMINICK )
I think it’ll all be played out during training camp/preseason.
Man the White Sox are garbage. 7-2 Tribe.
https://twitter.com/joevardon/status/905957153046921216
And LINDOR cranks a solo bomb to take back a run.
THANKS JASON—THE TOURNAMNET GAVE HOPE TO ALOT OF US THAT HE WILL HELP US SOME THIS YEAR
He’s young and a bit raw. Adjusting to the NBA (& the USA) will take some time. But the kid can definitely play. Plus a great attitude on the court. In your face. Feisty. Aggressive.
Holland is a decent player. Good all around. A player but not a great athlete. That blows up my theory we were going to try to sign Tavares & Felder to 2 way deals. Hope Pointer gets a shot.
YOU BEAT ME TO IT AGAIN ARCH—WHAT THE KLUBER IS GOING ON —OUCH !!—-FIGURED TRIBE SCORING 4 RUNS IN THE 1ST WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR WIN # 15
Well he’s human.
Yikes Kluber gives up 2 home runs in the first inning.
Osman: 24\6\5 on 7\13 FGs & 3/5 from deep.
Can’t tell if this is good or bad for the Cavs, but changing the lottery this year’s is a real mess for trams that traded for picks, etc.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20621318/reform-nba-draft-lottery-voted-17-18-season
They should leave the lottery alone. I never understood why people got all worked up about teams tanking.
Looks like it won’t go into effect until the 2019 draft…so the Nets pick in 2018 won’t be effected by this…
Seems like reforms only affect lottery teams, so won’t affect next year.

DOES ANYONE HAVE CEDI’S FINAL STAT LINE ?

Now this is not only incredible PR but also just an awesome thing for a local business to do in the spirit of its community.

When they were running that ad in July, I was thinking what a safe bet that was for the company. It turns out they paid $75K for an insurance policy on it, which will cost close to $2M. Whoever wrote the policy is probably cleaning out his/her desk right now.
Haha yep, although the insurance adjusters probably were looking at the odds and considering it reasonable for 75 grand.
The tournament essentially ended today for Turkey. They finished 4th in their group and they play Spain in the next round. Considering they are the hosts of the Eurobasket, it is kind of a failure. Anyway, probably one more game for Cedi before coming over. I think he has shown some new aspects of his game this Eurobasket, especially handling the ball, but don’t assume he will make a big difference for the Cavs. He could, but it is equally possible he doesn’t even see the floor, especially with Lue not trusting young players and insisting on playing Shump.
Thanks for the analysis.
Wow Latvia finished with 28 assists. That is absurd for Europe. 8 minutes of play less, plus the scorekeepers are much more strict about giving players assists.
Fun hanging out with you GCF!!!
Yeah, that was great!
Cedi off the dribble, front rims jumper. Fatigue looked like a factor.
Game over. Latvia up 10 with a minute to go.
CEDI WITH THE DRIVE AND LAYUP!!! With Porzingis guarding him!!! Blew right by!
Another great fast break by Cedi. Hoop plus the foul!
Great call!!!! takes the contact and finishes!!!!
Cedi with a great drive and score against Porzingis.
That unsportsmanlike foul by Turkey is probably the dagger. Referees in Europe make that call far too often.
Yup… closed the gap, then they ran out of gas as soon as Cedi was pulled.
Nice defense by Porzingis, alters the shot on the break.
Man, Porzingis is such a game changer on both ends of the floor. A man against boys, especially at this level.
Fun to watch him dominate.
WOW… Latvia with some incredible ball movement…. Spursian.
I am very surprised by the Latvian team. It is not the Porzingis show. They have a very well run. They have, I think, 25 assists, unbelievable.
They could use some more talented guards though.
Cedi with a subpar pocket pass to the cutter on the PnR. Too low and too hard.
He looks absolutely gassed. He didn’t have the legs to challenge the last 3 by Latvia. No wonder since he has played the whole second half.
Agreed… he’s been on the bench for awhile now here in the 4th.
I am pretty sure he hasn’t been subbed the entire secon half.
He was after that tired close out. He was put back in with 3 or 4 minutes to go.
Another thing I noticed is that Cedi doesn’t box out but leaks out to start the fast break. Another difference with Delly, who might be the best rebounding guard in the league.
Porzingis with a bad TO on the offensive end.
