Tonight, we have a heavyweight matchup with the Bucks taking on the Nets. We will also have Denver against Phoenix and Hawks versus the 76ers, who might be without Joel Embiid. We will also have the winner of Mavs/Clips taking on the awaiting Utah Jazz.
Per CtB tradition, we’re starting a new thread just so they don’t get too unwieldy to navigate… enjoy the show!!!

76ers with a choke job last night…good for Hawks they play so smart and McMillan should just get contract extension….I know interim coaches are tough to gauge but this team has really been battling well in the playoffs and they are making these serious more interesting than usual.
Clips playing like they should no surprise there – be interesting how Bucks/Nets goes with Kyrie out indefinitely…will Durant go nuclear or did the Bucks gain enough confidence….think if MIddleton goes nuts Bucks are in great shape..these playoffs are bad to watch despite some ‘favorites’ already out of postseason.
Clips romping. If Mitchell is gimpy & Conley is a no go Jazz are in deep trouble.
Are the Clips the favorites? Suns? Phoenix are the healthiest at the moment.
Clips certainly the favorites especially if they knock out the Jazz.
I think Phoenix is capable of making it a series though.
Mitchell’s ankle looms as the major determinative factor in this series.
Can’t explain why I dislike this Philly so much, but I hope the Hawks take this one & take Philly all the way to 7. Unlkely I know.
Also, never thought I’d say it but I am becoming a Trae fan. Dude has a set on him alright.

Embiid seems to be hobbled badly.
He did not shoot well. 8-26 I think. But 18 dimes to 2 TOs. Hawks only had 4 as a team. Allowed them to overcome poor shooting & losing the battle in the boards.
Made a key pass & key bucket late. Found a way to help his team win on an off shooting night. Big time.
I doubt Embiid goes 4-20 again, though.
if Embiid is a non-factor the 76ers just arent the same….game was close due to the fact they were up nearly 20 at one point….just silly how Embiid and Simmons couldnt hit point blank layups at end
Doc Rivers is a factor in the easy dislike…

there’s no asterisks for this, its silly talk and really asterisks are for those who cheat blatently, like in baseball with the steroid era. This was just a condensed season albeit shortened but it wasnt any different than past NBA seasons with many back-to-backs before those went by wayside a few years ago. The league is very wide open now ever since Lebron left Cleveland, there isn’t a dominant team (maybe the Nets?) so its anyones title and that’s been the case since 2018. Its fun to have different teams/flavors in the mix. WC finals should be a doozy.

I love all these takes attributing injuries to a certain cause without any evidence at all.
I mean, AD got injured. Shocking. Bron’s was a freak play. Miami was healthy, they just got stomped. For Denver, Barton was hurt last year as well. Kemba was hurt before the season started. Brown & Murray are both young guys, I am not buying it
In any case, the teams that go deep in the POs get less rest the following year. That is just the way it works. No asteriks either year.

I remember reading an article ridiculing James Jones,their draft choices and their complete ineptitude the first year he was there .Funny how things unfold.While the Cavs fire Griffin,hire Beilein and Altman and Bickerstaff we watch another mid market team ascend to the upper echelon of the league.Looks like he’s made all the right moves.What a shame someone here couldn’t see this high character guy with championship experience and find a place for him in this organization.

Don’t agree with Reggie Miller very often, but he is right. The Nuggets needed to have brought this intensity before now.

Silver linings
Flagrant 2 for Joikic, which seems like huge overkill to me. He was frustrated, yes, and swung hard, yes, but it was at the ball. His arm inadvertently hit Payne in the face. Flagrant 1 was the appropriate call.
