Cavs: The Podcast 0029 – 2013 Mega Recap Extravaganza
2013-04-22Annnnnd SCENE! Just like that, the 2013 season is in the books. We know the trials and tribulations ahead – but what about this roster? How did it perform this year? Who’s coming back next year? Why was Boobie Gibson such a G-D mess?
Well, folks, we’ve gotcha covered. On today’s second-annual end-of-year podcast, Colin, Nate, and I answer all of the above questions as we go through the roster player by player, break down their 2013 season, and predict what their situation will be next year.

Tom,
I keep envisioning the Cavs standing kind of pat this season and then moving heaven and earth to get Wiggins…
(If they dont get LBJ… or maybe even if they do)
Next year they could offer their own pick in 2014 (Presumably in the teens)
The Kings pick (Top 10 protected thru 2016)
The Grizzlies Pick (Will be good eventually)
Otto Porter?
Not saying they would use all of those at once… but It could happen
I give every player an A+. Can’t rain on this parade.

BTW – I’ll tank all next year to if the Cavs can get Andrew Wiggins. He is going to dominate in the NBA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLsK-ZoL9sY
Kyrie was more of a finished product. He’s probably not going to get leaps and bounds better offensively.
That’s the reason Speights doesn’t get minutes though. Because his attitude is poor and he gets aggravated very easy and then lets it affect his play. Be a professional and stop pouting.
I know you guys are down on Speights but try to remember ALOT of the time Scott reduced his minutes to like 8. He has always needed twice that to be really effective. ANd it was all of you saying , “Oh Scott is doing that because Speights won’t be here next year anyways” It was very frustrating to see his inconsistent minutes while Zeller having turnovers and getting whomped on. And you could see it aggravated SPeights as well. I highly doubt he will be a CAV next year.
@ KyrieSwIrving, a C+ seems harsh for KI. Yes he needs to improve defensively, but prior to the shoulder injury he was playing a lot of high level basketball. He was still one of the best fourth quarter scorers in the NBA. He made the all-star team this year as well and shined at the ASG weekend. Your grade seems to be heavily weighted toward the last month of the season.
And Kyrie and Dion played how many games? And how many Ames together? Come on, KySwirv, that is weak sauce…
Cols, if Irving, Thompson, and Waiters all had A’s and we still won 24 games we’re in trouble.
Thompson an A- Waiters a B- for showing real improvement over the year, Kyrie a C+. Seriously, Kyrie was good, but how much better this year was he compared to last year? Marginally, that’s where the + comes from. Zeller gets a D+ (Asked way too much from him, performed about where you would expect a 17th pick against starters), Andy a painful incomplete. Ellington a B+ Speights C- Livingston C Walton a B- (mostly just because I expected nothing from him. No, I don’t think he was better than Kyrie) Gee D Everyone else F’s These grades are a… Read more »
Remember when one of you guys projected Speights to average 15 and 8 over the second half of the season. I usually like the analysis here guys, but wow was that one egregious.
I’d give Thompson, Irving and Waiters A’s. They’ve looked great when on the court. Andy gets a C for being injured again.
I’d give mostly D’s for most of the roster with an F to Gibson. TT is the lone A. KI is a B. Waiters is a B-. Zeller is a C-. AV would be an A for performance on the floor but D for what he brought for the year.
