Live Thread: Cavs @ Kings
2015-01-11The Cavs are taking a ride to the Sleep Train tonight to do battle against DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. It will be a a test game for Timofey Mozgov, as he will be asked to stop the league’s most efficient center in Boogie.
This season DeMarcus is posting a PER of 26.33, which is the sixth best in the league, and he has been putting up 23.8 points a game to go with 12.3 rebounds. He’s also almost getting two blocks a game. He will provide a matchup issue if Timofey gets into foul trouble early on.
Fortunately for the Cavs, they have a matchup advantage almost everywhere else against the Kings. At the small forward spot, Rudy Gay can be problematic, but he can also shoot Sacramento into oblivion. The Kings also are giving up 103.9 points a game, while the Cavs a giving up 99.8 right now. The Cavs just win on paper automatically, right.
The Wine & Gold are without Shawn Marion, LeBron James, and Iman Shumpert tonight. With any luck, the Good Guys will grab their second win of the year and prevent the Kings from going above .500 for the month of January.
On a side note, let’s hope this game has lots of dunks, because these west coast games are a pain to stay awake for and each mention of the Sleep Train arena is going to put me at risk of falling asleep.
I’m saying the Cavs win this game 124-110. However, Boogie is going to post the line of the night by scoring 35 plus points.
And, I had this thought too. The Cavs of the past two weeks has felt like last year’s team. I don’t expect them to win anymore and that’s making me depressed.
What are your thoughts people?
I have to admit I am shocked by what a lousy defender Love is. Obviously I knew he is not the longest most athletic guy or whatever, but he doesn’t even TRY. How many times have I seen him arguing some ticky tack call so he doesn’t have to bother getting back? I almost wonder if he is being intentionally passive aggressive because he is unhappy about something, someone with his basketball IQ shouldn’t be so worthless on team defense, especially when he doesn’t have to expend nearly as much energy on the offensive end as he did with the… Read more »
Face it, offense pays the bucks. Defense doesn’t. Why do you think Kyrie got a max contract? It for sure is not for his defense. You think Tony Allen, one of the best defenders in the NBA, would even get a sniff at a max contract? Or how about Tyson Chandler? No, because offense still pays, even though you can never win with just offense. Kevin Love is NOT even close to a max player, he is worth an average PF salary at best, because he is the worst PF defender in the NBA, and there is no way in… Read more »
Wow. Glad I missed this one for the Golden Globes. Welcome to .500 Cavs fans…
If LeBron played tonight, the Cavs STILL would have lost. They stink. It’s not the coach. It’s not about injuries. They’re going to pay the luxury tax this year. It’s the players. They just plain suck and need to own up to it. Finals? Please, this team is done after round 1.
Apparently Blatt was noted saying Love is not a max player. I don’t know the context but the media is running wild with it.
Maybe Blatt is looking to get himself fired. Not a bad strategy. I wouldn’t want to coach a bunch of guys who don’t give an “F.”
Hopefully sending a message to Gilbert / Griffin. “We still have time to act before ruining this team’s near future by committing 35% of the cap to arguably the most overrated player in the league”
Pretty sad when I’m cheering for the cavs to get within 20 to end the game. Which they did!!!! Only lost by 19 – puke.
@RuiterWrongFAN: #Cavs will let him do whatever he wants whenever he wants RT @joevardon LeBron told me he is leaning toward going to Buckeye game
He’s probably excited to hang out with Manziel. Lol.
Can’t wait till LBJ comes back so we can hang with the Kings and Pistons again.
This made me laugh. Touche.
I will be really surprise if LeBron doesn’t come back to play next Tuesday. It seems like Love and Kyrie are waiting for him to fix this team. 2 max players with no pride. Right now it seems like they are both playing for contracts. #selfishplay
On a positive note Mozgov is a beast.
He will really help the Cavs eventually but JR is just JR he will have some good ones and some ugly ones too.
