It’s that time of year again. That’s right, preseason basketball is back! If you’re like me you can’t wait to check out this year’s Cavs squad at tonight’s Wine and Gold Scrimmage. And if you’re like me, you’ll be sick of the preseason in a week. Fortunately, regular season basketball is just a couple weeks away!

Vardon tweets that Lue confirmed Love will start at C. Wonder if that will hold once IT comes back. If the 2nd unit is Rose/Wade + Shump + Korver + Green + TT has spacing issues. Frye would help.

Confirmed, TT off the bench. Love, James, Crowder frontcourt with Rose at the point for now. How the 2nd unit looks at what the rotations are will be interesting. Guys 5-10 lack shooting. Wade, Shump, Korver, Green, TT. Only one shooter there.
Lue can start Wade and have JR and Korver come off the bench together. That’s a nice one/two punch with solid rebounding from TT, and a smart PG in José(until Rose/IT work it out). The 4 spot would be difficult.

For some inexplicable reason, I’m extremely high on Zizic.
Zizic is a lunch pail guy with sound fundamentals and pretty decent size & athleticism. We essentially got 2 first round picks this year (Zizic & Osman).

Nope. He is on an existing contract. He is eligible for a two way, but we have to waive him & he has to clear waivers. You can’t lock guys who are on existing deals into a 2 way without waiving them (breaking existing deal) & thus making them a FA.
Agree that Felder & Perkins are the two players who are most likely to get waived & deservedly so. Everyone else can do at least one thing at an nba level. Hopefully Edy can clear waivers & become a 2 way. Holland looked pretty good. Still have 1 more cut: Shump, Calderon, RJ seem the likeliest to go.
I would cut RJ bit offer him a coach/staff position. His attitude and friendship with the players is top notch. I don’t think we can just cut Shump, he would need to be traded right?

We could cut him, sure. We would still have to pay him. 10 mil this year & maybe next. We have to pay RJ & Calderon as well, but only for 2 mil & 1 year.

I really hated losing Kyrie but I think we got better.
I believe if we had rolled in the same team as last year, and with the addition of Rose and Green, I don’t see how that team would beat GS. But adding Crowder, Wade, IT and this Zizic guy, our bench got exponentially better.
RJ can still cut.
Tuned in late 1st quarter. Saw everyone but Cedi & Tavares who are healthy. I guess they could be out as well.
