Live Thread: Cavs vs. Magic

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off of a tough loss to the Golden State Warriors on MLK Day. And while it wasn’t quite a “massacre” as it was a few years ago, it did put a not-so-pleasant finish on a bad ten-game stretch which saw only two wins. The last team that Cleveland beat? The Orlando Magic. Hopefully, this is a sign of brighter things ahead. The previous event ended in the Cavs favor with a 131-127 win that was closer than it should have been. (Un)fortunately, injured point guard Derrick Rose is available for this match-up. The Cavs are still busy integrating Isaiah Thomas and reintegrating Tristan Thompson, so how much time Rose gets remains to be seen.
Orlando is only 13-31 and have only won three games in all of December and January. Opponent record never means much to the Cavs, however, as they tend to play to the level of their opponents. And while the effort was better against the Warriors than many times this season, there are still lingering issues that won’t go away over the course of a week. I expect this game to be closer than it should be, again. Ultimately, though, the Cavs will get back into the win column tonight as we all collectively discuss possible trades involving many of the guys on the court. As always, go Cavs!

Saw a post on the Bleacher Report feed for the Cavs that Lue was asked after the game what happened in the second half and he responded I don’t know. I’m pretty sure anyone who watched the game can answer that with no ball movement, turnovers, and lack of hustle. I get not wanting to go too deep into things during a press conference but that is all it would have taken. I agree. Lue has always seemed to prioritize working guys back in from injury vs. playing guys who HAVEN’T been injured all year and can contribute.

Lue is a mediocre coach at best. Which is why Frye and Osman sit while Rose and TT get their minutes. This sh*t makes me sick to my stomach.
funny that recap isn’t up yet, but whoever is in charge for this one can just copy and paste from previous games where Cavs built big lead and then blew it, but escaped against crappy team. do agree that next few games will be tough and determine where this team stands. don’t agree with team struggles due to ‘new’ guys coming in. think this team just doesn’t give effort because they aren’t obligated or forced by the coach. all star break can’t come soon enough.

Lebron needs a vacation. Dude is exhausted. He can’t recover like a 22 year old. They should sit him until the team can win two games in a row without him. See if anyone else on this team can play basketball.

You’re not alone my friend. I agree with you a 100%. But to be honest there’s no trade scenario that will land the Cavs a PG13 or AD so I think the Cavs should keep the pick and just get ready for the rebuild.

To he honest I don’t see a high ceiling for a roster like this. There’s a difference on playing like you are reserving energy for the long run and playing with total lack of effort.

Still depends. I don’t like him as a fit for the team, in which he nowhere is. In which lineup do you see him thriving? He’s not a good facilitator and he’s basically redundant when he is on a lineup with either Lebron or Wade.
Sometimes I wish Love had a bigger ego and demanded more playing time/more touches. Like why does Lue never play Love with the bench unit and truly unleash “Minnesota Love?”
Trying to think of other solutions besides for play Frye/Cedi since Lue clearly wont do that
