Live Thread: Rockets Vs Cavs
2021-02-24UPDATE: Victor Oladipo is starting tonight in his 12th game for the Rockets. P.J. Tucker is also starting.
The Cavs grabbed a last second win against the Hawks less than 24 hours ago. Lamar Stevens, a rookie who probably wouldn’t see the floor for most other teams in the league, caught a pass from Collin Sexton while barreling towards the rim with 4.1 seconds left to play. He finished it with a strong dunk to put the Cavs up 112-11. Stevens had eight points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Collin Sexton finished the night with 29 points and five assists, while Dylan Windler balled out going 5-5 from 3-land for 15 points along with five assists. The Cavs shot the 3-ball wonderfully in the win going 15-28.
Trae Young went 9-27 for 28 points for the Hawks, and he wonders why he didn’t make the All-Star team. He also had 12 assists. Kevin Huerter went 4-8 from deep for 22 points and grabbed four steals.
The Cavs will look to push the Rockets to their ninth straight loss this evening.
Cleveland is without Kevin Love, Andre Drummond, Matthew Dellavedova, and Larry Nance Jr. as of now. The Rockets are without Christian Wood and Victor Oladipo, Eric Gordon, and P.J. Tucker are questionable.

gotta say, pretty garbage how I see a lot of fans talk about Cedi (not here, elsewhere)…. for his role off the bench, one of the best at it… and he’s not a black hole when he’s not shooting well, if he can catch a hot streak in the 2nd half of the season, look out.
does so many little things well, above average steal rate, usually makes great decisions with the ball and is a decent passer, rebounds good enough. He’s just literally in the worst shooting slump of his career, so it looks bad.

maybe? feel like the Cavs can’t really know the answer to this yet as he really hasn’t gotten enough run. Can definitely shoot the hell out of the ball so there’s that. Very solid tonight, in the right positions on D, rebounding the ball, moving it on offense, firing the open 3s

he’s a great 3rd string guy…. gonna have get a lot better on offense though if he wants to make rotations.
Yep. Rotation might be his high water mark. But 11th-15th man could be there.
We have a couple 3rd stringers who can contribute in small doses (Dotson, Wade, Stevens). Haven’t had that in a while.

Nice win. Allen beasting. Windler sniping. Sexton overcoming a slow start. Garland with a double digit assist game (despite the 8 TOs). Six in double figures. Including Wade and Ice.
7 guys made triples. 16-36 as a team. Garland got 10 up. Sexton 8. That problem seems fixed. Okoro 2-2 from deep. Windler 4-4.
We get Love back. Get Thomas up to speed so we have a backup point. Get Drummond resolved. Get LNJ & Delly back. Could make a run at #10.
