Live Thread: Warriors @ Cavs
2023-11-05Good evening CtB!
The Cavs welcome the Golden State Warriors to the shores of Lake Erie for the first of their two matchups this week. The Warriors are absolutely rolling and the addition of Chris Paul has made them look like championship contenders yet again. The Cavs on the flip side look like a lottery team with garbage offense and mediocre defense as they try to find a way to get healthy and find a rhythm. Luckily it looks like Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen are back for good so the Cavs should improve on both ends of the court as they work their way into shape.
Tip off is scheduled for 6:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio, Go Cavs!

DG: 8th
Mobley: 12th
ROY Scottie Barnes: 15th
I loved what Mobley did on the boards, think he’s underrated as an assist man, and of course he makes my jaw drop a few times a game with his savant’s defensive instincts. That said, I still feel like the much-promised breakthrough as a scorer is still an off-season and a growth spurt away. He’s still too hesitant in the paint, almost always goes to his right hand, and the jumper doesn’t look any better. I’m OK with letting him develop incrementally this season — and I’d love to be proved wrong — but for now, it still feels like… Read more »
He might just get his in the flow attacking mismatches like Bam. That’s not going to be as good for his scoring development as force feeding him but would feel really good about an efficient 18/10/4 line for the year
I think it’s interesting that he consistently releases the ball too late on his three-point jumper. Why isn’t anyone telling him this?
His stroke is a disaster.
teaching a sweet jumpshot, or even a decent foul shot, are very hard, which is why so many at the highest levels (NBA) are so bad.
one humorous thing you often see with lousy NBA foul shooters is the knee bend. they have no doubt been told 10,000 times to bend their knees, but they don’t get it. thus they take a deep knee bend, stand up straight, wait a bit, then launch a flat footed brick. it is painful to watch.
G. Turd game #1 update: -18 in the +/- dept. only down side being that the NYK won.
haven’t felt this sad since Braymond got kicked
UM spy scandal update:

Mitchell is leading the league in points per game
He might stay up there. Our pace is much faster and he can get his on 30-34m.
Carlisle looks like one of the most miserable SOBs on the coaching sideline.
Mitchell said in his post game interview that he knows this is a big rivalry, and he could feel it from the fans. Pretty awesome that he sensed that and intentionally went out and got 31 points. 3-1. He bleeds wine and gold.
alright! things are looking a lot better today
Haven’t watched much of the Cavs this season – partly because of opportunity, but also had this sneaking feeling that without a full complement on the court, this team will not make an impact without burning Mitchell to a stump. I don’t want to watch repeats of games from last season. I need to see progress. Nate/Chris posted that this was the biggest win of the last few seasons, and they may be right. Allen’s presence is key for Mobes. Rebounding becomes a net positive. When Garland is assertive, Spida becomes lethal – without destroying himself in the process. Throw… Read more »
beware of over thinking
He’s right though. Garland being aggressive, drawing FTA while letting Mobley attack mismatches and JA getting all sorts of cleanup / lob / slop around the rim is key to keeping Mitchell ready for close (and a second unit centered around high PnR with spacing should kill too).
The off-season adds were great but there’s a ton to be said for the guys just playing better, playing together, and playing better together.
Which was the only real way they could play well with pace. Offense looks amazing, getting into sets real fast
FAMILY FUNCTIONS PREVENTED FROM WATCHING 😡—-WILL WATCH REPLAY—GREAT WIN—GO CAVS
Super satisfying win. Great seeing Mobes battling and coming up with so many boards. A lot of pretty good D too in the second half.
Great win. Just finished watching it. Good to see Mobley grabbing all those rebounds. That being said, it was against a smaller GS lineup. Mitch was money. They’ve played a pretty good 6 quarters. Keep improving. Also liking TT getting Damian Jones minutes. Turn back the clock!
Not sure why AP has “first time to beat the warriors since 2016, counting playoffs” didn’t we beat them Game 4 of the 2017 finals?
Regular season.
They make.a graphic/story out of everything.. with the caption “7 years for karma to catch up with Draymond”
Jarrett Allen awarded the DYJ Award. The Big Dog, in our back yard, kicked Draymond in his junk.
so sad
Draymond was like “ouch, is that what it feels like when I kicked all those guys in the nads?”
Cavs win going away despite shooting sub 30% from deep and giving up 21 turnovers.
Yeah loads of points left on the table here. Strus and DG 3/15
Niang surprisingly physical!
A win that was both beautiful and ugly.
Finished work and arrive home to what sounds like a fun replay to watch! 👏👏👏
Tis!
Really liked everyone’s effort on the glass too
+10 for the Cavs
That was a big win.
Might be biggest one over the last two years.
Agreed. Now I wanna see what they can do against okc.
Beat them I’d think…especially if Okoro back to make it tough on SGA and Lu Dort doesn’t go berserk
We should have beat them the first time.
yup!
Mobley super close to putting it all together
Really glad for the Cavs – hope that can give them some confidence as a team they can beat good teams. Hope it can give me confidence as a fan that they can beat good teams too :)
good win before a West Coast trip.
Ebb’n Flow-by. Is this a thing?
Go Cavs!!! Woot!!
Man. Cavs gotta play some prevent offense. These turnovers are Terri Le.
Didn’t see this win coming tbh. Nice to see a fully operational Death Star here.
don’t jinx it!!
They’ll be fine.
24 fastbreak points for the Cavs
another fastbreak, 26 points now..
Great screen on that Mitchell drive.
God I missed JA
He does a ton of non-box score things really well.
Just having a see ball get ball guy is so helpful
no kidding.
during the off season, some “Cav’s fan sites” that try to produce something every day, went to their standby “propose a trade of JA for anyone who can walk, crawl, or hop” articles. totally clueless.
Curry hit that shot, but that was great d by Caris.
Evan!
Strus with 7 of our 18 points.. big shots!
Getting killed from 3-41% to 31%.
story of our lives
Please again lord, just give us this one
hahaha
Great sequence!
Caris! Great steal.
Hell yeah
