Live Thread: Cavs vs Mavs
2024-02-27The battle of the “avs” is brewing in the RMF as we celebrate Slovenian Heritage Night and the coming of Luka Doncic to the shores of Lake Erie. The Cavs are healthy sans Ty Jerome, while Luka will play despite getting clocked in the shnoz the other night. Only former Cav Dante Exum is out for Dallas. It should be a high scoring affair as Luka doesn’t guard anyone, while the tall Mavs will give Mitchell, Garland, and Strus trouble. Should be fun. Go Cavs!
Let’s get some Okoro/Wade minutes.
LT up
No Mitchell or Caris tonight. Great work JB!
Dang that JB!
He also broke up the Beatles!
PREACH RAOUL PREACH—————— AND A LOSS TONIGHT WILL “ OPEN A NEW CAN OF WORMS “ ——GETTING READY TO GO ASSIST IN COACHING—-GOING FOR SECTIONAL TITLE
Vert questionable too. Pistons are having their best week of the season too (beat Bulls, robbed of a W against the Knicks, close loss to Magic).
We’ll win a close one, the bench guys will produce against weaker competition as injury replacements and we’ll lie to ourselves about how good they really are.
At least Bulls have the Bucks on a B2B. Maybe Drummond has another monster game in him.
(bench is better than last year by a mile, but the 8-12 men still are below average and incomplete NBA players, two-tool guys at best – at least we aren’t trying to make tenth men seventh men)
That bench you keep maligning (although you did correct yourself below) has had to fill in a lot this year, and depending which guys you’re talking about, they’ve shown a lot more than just the ability to stand out for one night against a bad team. Certainly Wade has for example. The “A” squad found a way to lose Wednesday night’s game, and the dead legs on a back to back surely had a lot to do with it. But in December the Cavs played that same Bulls squad while missing half the regular rotation (DG, Donovan, Mobley, Levert, and… Read more »
agree with Windmill
a win tonight will cure the squabbling!
It depends on how they win and it will likely only delay the squabbling.
Coach NOMAD sez the entire CtB crew will be running laps if there is any more squabbling!
I’ll meet you at the track!
we have to run around th gym
Happy 3-1 day, everyone! Never forget that Steph Curry and the “lightyears ahead” Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavs in the NBA Finals.
Well look at that Donovan Mitchell is now questionable tonight with left knee soreness. Nice work JB. 🤡 coach!
Mitchell plays 1.9 mpg more than in Utah and 1.5 mpg more than his first ASG year. You are insane to think that matters.
To put it in 90s, Mark Price averaged 37 mpg (more than Donovan) in his best two years in Cleveland.
Yes and what the hell does that have to do with shortening your rotation on a b2b in double OT? Put down the burner JB!
It means blaming JB for the shit that he doesn’t cause or control is insane, Mike
Yes blaming JB because he decides who’s on the floor at any particular time. And I have no idea who Mike is?
yeah, but the NBA pace was much slower then
I WILL” LET MY BEING BULLIED “ POST REST —-/KNICKS WILL EXPOSE THAT WEAKNESS ( IF I AM CORRECT) EVEN WITHOUT RANDLE/ HARD ROCK/ ROBINSON / POSSIBLY BRUNSON ———-HOPE MY OPINION IS WHACKO —— WOULDNT BE THE 1st 👍🤪
Cavaliers are 22-6 with Mobley and Garland out or on minutes restriction and 16-14 when they play full games.
we lose by 15 last night without them, be fair
Yeah fresh legs would be idiotic?!
You can make mistakes with fresh legs or tired ones. Look at the Bull turnovers in the first four minutes.
DG and Mobley had great games. Mitchell and Allen choked. Hope they do better
If a guy is struggling (especially from being on a b2b) you give him some rest and utilize the deep bench you have. But according to you they’re trash so I’ll just roll my eyes at your idiotic logic.
TOTALLY AGREE WITH CLF / WINDMILL—- NEED TO KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THESE SITUATION s —— DID WE HAVE A FOUL TO GIVE—- EAT UP SECOND s—- MAKE THEM WORK HARDER- LONGER TO GET A SHOT OFF—-AT THE END OF A CLOSE GAME—- SECONDS ARE CRUCIAL—— HOPEFULLY A LARGE LEARNING CURVE FROM THIS GAME ( REBOUNDING BEING TOP PRIORITY) —-SOMETIMES WHEN REBOUNDING YOU HAVE TO PUT THE OPPONENT ON HIS ASS —- “ BE A GOON “🦾👹——-CAVS PLAYERS ( I POSTED RECENTLY) NEED TO START RIGHT NOW—- “ PUT YOUR GAME- GOON FACE ON “ — NO MORE GETTING FRIGGIN… Read more »
Rebounding is fine overall, we’ve been pretty good overall there. As for bullying, more often than not we ARE the bullies! We have a damn elite defense that more often than not is doing the bullying and setting a tone. Mobley and Allen and Okoro and Strus and Wade have been absolutely erasing people.
Allen just had a stinker against a historically great rebounders who outweighs him by 50 pounds.
I thought Wade was an “innings eater” and not important at all?
he’s productive and has played well on defense in the regular season. why do you trust him in the playoff rotation after last year?
Pretty sure he had about 3 minutes of play last year, in the playoffs. Also he was banged up for much of the season.
hope the lights aren’t too bright for him
Maybe he can eat some playoff innings?
It’s ok to just say you don’t understand why the best players play the most minutes
Of course. Never said that. But keep on trolling on Ned Flanders.
Timely. An early 90s reference for an early 90s basketball mind. Go eat Wendy’s with Brad Daugherty
Mike Sanders brain lmaoooo
check out all the second guessing by the Mavs on what they should have done in the last 2.6 seconds.
Yeah they are SICK. They fire Kidd like twice a week lmao
Second guessing is different from incompetence.
This was a bummer of a loss. If we had beaten the Bulls and the Pistons tomorrow, we would have secured the tiebreaker over the Bucks.
If Mitchell hits the free throw or Allen doesn’t foul Derozan, we probably win. I didn’t care for much for Mitchell’s decision-making in all of the clutch moments. Hope he can still improve in that area.
We have to beat the Pistons and Indiana one of two
(We will likely lose a weird one to Indy and doom will again impend)
(also people forget that the Donovan 71 pointer was also a weird goof-ass OT game that we had no business winning AT ALL – team is just super cabsy against Chicago)
Prior to last night they had won 7 in a row against Chicago. That’s not “weird” and “cabsy.” The Bulls stink.
seems like 7-1 is a good record against them then! the games themselves were funky and weird imo
a lot of people consider 7-1 against a team to be not too shabby.
(psst-the Donovan 71 pointer was extremely weird–getting to OT off a putback of your own FT is rare as hell)
Mitchell missing that last FT was brutal. JA’s foul was terrible but there was always a chance they could have just hit a quick 3.
Even the play before that…when we were up 4 with about 25 seconds left. We let them get a bucket way too easily and quickly. It was like the Cavs thought there were only a few seconds left, so we let them get a quick two.
You’re right, on that play DeRozan got right to the rim and scored in less than 5 seconds, it was too easy.
Yeah, and unfortunately has been predictable/common in these situations where they have enough of a lead that you should be able to call it.
YES THANKS TERRY — YOU NAILED IT —— I THINK A FEW MINUTES OF JONES TO “ BANG “ WITH DRUMMOND MAY ALSO HAVE HELPED——— DOES A “ NON – JUICED “ TT PROVIDE ENOUGH HELP COME PLAYOFF s
This was a TT special for sure. Sucks that he screwed up.
BTW our favorite people Paul Peirce and Kevin Garnett are hinting Lebron is “on the juice”. What a pair of poop heads.
I could see LeBron on the best supplements and possibly some form of HgH that isn’t scheduled.
if he has something undetectable, he didn’t tell TT
Possible, but accusations from known haters don’t carry much water.
MY POST ALL STAR THEORY IS ALOT OF THE CONTENDER s ARE TURNING IT “ UP A NOTCH OR 2 “ —- CAVS ALREADY DID PRE ALL STAR OR ARE INCAPABLE OF DOING SO TO MATCH OTHER TEAMS FOCUS // INTENSITY JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION
We’re playing with our food: other teams (MIL, PHL, Chicago after losing to DET) are desperate and we’re not respecting that.
The turning it up a notch = getting DG and Mobley to play well when Donovan and Allen are playing well: we aren’t getting a complete game from our best players yet.
I would say your theory is probably right at least in this sense – when Garland and Mobley both went down, everyone else had to feel a great sense of urgency and would have played and coached that way. (And, in hindsight, played a lot better with the guys they had left available than anyone was expecting them to). But now that everyone’s back, what is the mindset?
https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2024/02/cavs-were-bullied-in-chicago-bickerstaff-didnt-have-his-finest-moment-terry-pluto-sscribbles.html?outputType=amp
This is a good article. Mitchell, Allen and JB not up to par, but it’s a one possession game.
It’s really interesting that we didn’t get bullied by Embiid or Jokic or Brook or Sabonis or the Knicks but by the Bulls.
Expanded bench and not on a b2b.
Knicks were on a B2B, IIRC – but yeah, since no B2B in the playoffs I’m not too worried about bully ball long term
JB is still driving around looking for an adjustment for last years playoffs.
probably should have played CPJ
Another “innings eater” according to you.
playoffs would have been different last year if we could have played him!
I blame JB for not having drafted him in July before April
He can rebound so I’d say he probably would have made an impact. That being said he was at Wichita State so…
yup. hard to make adjustments when you don’t have the players :)
It’s hard to coach basketball when you don’t understand basketball.
Crazy. You don’t know ball
Brain stuck in Hot Rod Williams land
TOTALLY AGREE WITH RAOUL s POST ——— WATCHED REPLAY—- MAN WE ARE TERRIBLE AT CLOSING OUT CLOSE GAMES/ WHICH IS VITAL IN THE PLAYOFFS/ SEE RAOUL s POST
Need to go back to what held off the Bucks, Clips and Kings: decisiveness on offense and gang rebounding / team defense. But also Donovan can be too decisive and get tunnel vision.
It’s a really tricky thing because they aren’t like way off it’s just not quite in flow
JB still hasn’t figure out how to run an out of time out play. That’s b2b bloopers.
It’s hilarious,it’s gone from can’t get a good shot coming out of a timeout to can’t get the ball in bounds, trending in the wrong direction.
Hate to say it, but between DG being so badly out of synch, Mobley/Allen consistently getting wrecked on the boards by aggressive bigs and JB not figuring out how to overcome the glaring redundancies in our top four players (DG/DM too similar… Mobley a center, not a four) we are looking every bit the part of a first-round exit again.
if they are playing lousy they will be a first round exit.
if they are playing good they will be in the ECF
Yup. Top guys need to play and close better.
Mobley is absolutely a four and there was great big to big action yesterday. DG was great off ball yesterday, too. This wasn’t a redundancy thing it was Mitchell and Allen fucking up crunch time.
But the answer to that is more crunch time reps.
It was just a weird cabsy game and our trash bench wouldn’t help. /s
Great to see DG get some confidence back in his 3-point shot, but it’s so mind-boggling what’s happened to the rest of his game. I’m starting to wonder if it might have something to do with him completely giving up on his mid-range game. In the past, once he beat his man on the perimeter, he froze defenses because they didn’t know if he would pull up from 15 and drain the midrage — which he did consistently — or go to the hole, where he’d freeze them again by waiting til the last second to either hit the layup… Read more »
Just needs to play more to figure it out. He might need every one of the next 23 games to get it right.
Tough year for him.
Even Terry Pluto is calling out JB after last nights loss.
The no Sam thing, hard to figure on the second night of a back to back when DM is struggling.
If Pluto thinks he should go, that is the strongest argument yet for giving JB an extension.
Article posted above.
Haha. TP is a great writer, and I love him. He is not a Stephen A. level idiot, but his insight is nothing to write home about.
Years and years ago I used to read him everyday, listened to his radio/podcasts etc. One day I realized, legitimately every one of his observations or predictions would turn out the exact opposite lol. You’re right though, he’s not just some dumb blow hard trying to get attention. He’s more just a sports fan who made a career off of comment-section level observations.
Pluto said it wasn’t his finest hour and thought it wouldn’t hurt to experiment. I thought that was fair but I also think giving the core 4 air and space to work through when they are struggling is key to unlocking our next level.
Anybody have any insight into what was up with Spida last night? Didn’t seem like himself, playing very passive. Strangest of all, didn’t seem like teammates were looking for him. Saw lots of possessions where he was calling for the ball and teammates ignored him. Weird all around.
Tired. Still getting over an illness.
good point. all the more reason to use CPJ on a B2B.
WE HAVE PISTON s ON FRIDAY—HOPE THEY CAN FIND THAT “ ELUSIVE “ RHYTHM TO GET THEM READY FOR AN IMPORTANT “STATEMENT “ GAME AGAINST THE KNICKS ON SUNDAY———-BUT EVEN THOSE “ Ws” WILL BE SOMEWHAT TARNISHED— PISTON s BEING WHO THEY ARE— KNICKS BEING RATHER DEPLETED———WE NEED TO WIN THESE GAMES TO GET SOME OF THAT MOJO BACK
Let’s trick the Pistons and run a 4-man rotation.
MAN THERE WAS ALOT OF TALK WHEN THE BULL s WERE TOTAL SHIT ABOUT PURSUING DRUMMOND ON A BUYOUT—- HE WOULD BE A NICE BACK UP FOR THE CAVS TO HAVE
The Bulls are still mostly shit. The Cavs didn’t lose to a good team.
Disturbing choking / playing with our food tendencies.
I think the Bulls and Pistons have been playing a lot better lately
Yeah it’s a cliche but the other guys get paid too. Bulls aren’t good but even average and bad teams have strengths and we didn’t execute well enough at close.
Jeez Bulls are damn near .500. They still suck but they aren’t Washington or Toronto.
JBs “ LACK OF TRUST “ IN PLAYERS NOW WILL HAUNT US COME PLAY OFF s ——— UNLESS WE FIND THAT VERY “ ELUSIVE “ RHYTHM 🎵 “
I’m not sure it’s a trust thing. I’m thinking it’s more of a coaching style thing. He seems too stubborn to change his approach.
agree with Arch on this one. JB has a lot of good aspects, but stubbornness and short rotations are holding him back.
I think they probably need to stay short until you get DG and Mobes fully reintegrated at 32-36m.
we have a ton of B2B’s coming up, and that changes things.
Yeah it’s tough. If this was like last year and the starters were killing people I’d be fine with it.
This doesn’t make any sense. Why would you play a shorter rotation when you’ve got two starters in minutes restrictions.
They aren’t under minutes restrictions: that was lifted after the ASB I believe or maybe before the first Bulls game in Feb
Then what do you mean by “until?” I’m lost.
I mean fully reintegrated and playing comfortably in the new style as a matter of habit.
I just have so many issues with this logic I don’t even know where to start, so I’ll just say good night.
“ DITTO “ WHAT NATE POSTED
If not for a Max Strus 59 foot miracle, the Cavs would be 1-4 coming out of the All Star break. They played their top plus/minus player 14 minutes tonight, and their second most dynamic shooter got a DNP. They got out rebounded 74-39 tonight & their offensive execution was ass. They lost this game to a team that lost to freaking Detroit last night. The Cavs are not focused and the coaching has eschewed all of the lessons from their hot streak. They do not handle success well.
Not only that Strus also going 🔥and hit 4 other 3s in a span of a few minutes. That game was pretty much out of reach. 9 times out of 10 that’s a loss.
and if not for a dozen things, the Cavs would have won tonight.
That sounds like whataboutism!
that was supposed to be sarcastic
It’s all good. I see where you’re coming from. But if you think of yourselves as a “no excuse team” you have to own it when you blow a two point lead with the ball two nights in a row.
What does “owning it” even mean and why would that help? (from my perspective we have a nice culture of accountability, our guys are honest about their shortcomings to a fault – lights too bright, etc)
JB rarely takes personal responsibility for anything.
If he came out after every loss and said “this is on me not putting us in a position to succeed” – which he’s done this year but unfortunately not transcripts on media availability, how would it help?
Are you saying he’s stated this but there’s no record?
I recall him saying that yes
If anyone would know, I guess it would be JB’s burner.
who cares? at post game pressers after losses, most coaches say “it’s all my fault” to keep pressure off the players.
Clearly I care. Which is why I’m not asleep right now, like a sane person would be.
😂
Except JB. I recall Ty Lue saying this. I remember hall of fame coach Tito Francona doing this, but there’s no record of JB. Btw i do think he’s probably said it… just not enough.
dunno. I rarely listen to post game interviews.
My #1 critique is the Short Bench. I get it that most coaches worry about letting the other team get some momentum. But on the other hand, you don’t want to run your best players into the ground and get injured, and also need to develop the kids.
And, #2 is stubborn, for keeping the short bench.
Most other things are going fine, particularly team attitude.
Our kids are old AF lol (except Emoni) – Merrill and Wade are what they are
Let’s cut them. They stink. And let’s run a 5-man rotation the rest of the way. Let’s nurture JB because he’s the next Pop. 🤦♂️
They are fine innings eaters in the first half of the season. They are also good players and real pros for the regular season minutes they are called on. That’s really good but we all agree that the regular season is primarily playoff prep now. I like them fine but it’s a very fan thing to fall in love with backups. But they won’t play much in the playoffs because they are ninth and tenth men and the core 4 will get high 30s in minutes. Wade or Niang is probably the only meaningful rotation ? outstanding for the playoffs,… Read more »
Just found out that Damion Jones is 28. He looks like a kid.
Would never have guessed that!
It shows leadership and that you’re not any less accountable than anyone else. I find I am more likely to sacrifice and work harder for a leader like that.
These are grown adults, they are all busting their humps. And it’s the NBA, coaches are more accountable / at risk than any rotation player
Man. What does this even mean? Does the fact that the Cavs are fully mature hump busters mean that they don’t respond to leadership cues like most other humans?
It means that leadership is highly overrated as a determinative factor that wins you games in the NBA, which is referred to as a “make or miss league” for a reason! “Coach talk make me try hard” is Paleolithic high school shit, professionals don’t need leadership cues, it’s why they are pros. Sorry to have a do your job mentality.
I think coach have a big effect. If the Cavs had Spo or Pops they would be challanging the Celts for #1 seed right now.
It CAN. It mostly doesn’t, which is why you only named two guys. Replacing Blatt for Lue worked. That was great but it was eight years ago.
Look at the hottest coaches of the last off season. Monty stinks in Detroit, Nurse is…fine with Philly, and firing Bud has dropped the Bucks from the 1 seed to the three seed. Look at Atlanta-Quinn for Nate hasn’t mattered a bit.
For almost every team, a head coaching change is a short term set back and a medium term neutral at best.
This is one of the stupidest things you’ve ever said. Which is saying something.
Eat shit. “but muh leadership bad – we need to talk to these boys the right way” is small minded football mentality that you wouldn’t apply to any elite professional in sports or otherwise. Absolute overseer mentality.
Hope your fucking heart surgeon has a good “leader” because without a pep talk he can’t do his job.
losing on the road in 2OT is not a sign of the end of the world.
When guys were injured, we discovered Damian Jones is actually somewhat playable. So in a game when JA is having a rare bad night and you are being annihilated on the boards, why not give him some burn, see if he can help with that?
Better execution wins here. Damian Jones or CPJ or Merrill is never the solution. Don needs to stop turning it over and Allen still struggles with monstrous 5s who are world class rebounders.
😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for chiming in JB!
No, sometimes guys just have tired legs or don’t match up well for one night. The league doesn’t fine you for using more than 9 players in a game, not sure why players who have proven useful in the course of a long season can “never” be used in situations that seem to fit.
If your best player can’t make 2 close out FTs or your best defender can’t remember to not foul a 3P shooter…purely execution errors
And how about everything that led to that point?
Chicago is good at defending the paint, Allen sucked and the smalls didn’t rebound and we have no big depth.
As much as we want to believe Merrill or whoever is a panacea we shot 40% on 54 3PA on really clean looks.
I probably would have played Ice more but Vert was really good and Strus was doing Strus things.
Who said they’re the panacea, other than you (sarcastically)? Allen sucked perhaps because he looked gassed. It’s a b2b remember?!!!! We do have Jones available who has proven useful despite my early season criticism. We also have CPJ who is a really good rebounding guard. I don’t think I need to tell you about Merrill’s gravity… maybe that would’ve helped against cutting guards getting stuffed at the rim. Try something different – a different look when something isn’t working. Or just chalk up to weirdness.
You don’t play CPJ when Garland is finally playing well in the style you want from him and LeVert has 13 assists!!
We didn’t need more gravity, there was plenty…and Damian Jones has had five productive shifts – not games, SHIFTS – as a Cav: how is he possibly the answer against an historically great rebounder??
“Try something different” is lazy. Play your best players and have them work it out in Feb and March!
not so sure about this. when your best guys appear to have dead legs on a B2B, that is a natural time to give the kids some run.
They didn’t have dead legs until the second OT after DM and JA blowing it. It’s just rough
So you say.
So why did you sign CPJ if you don’t plan to play him? Let’s trade him, Merrill, Jones, and the rest of the scrap heap because we apparently don’t need them. Especially on a b2b with double OT. We don’t want to be lazy.
next year his “trust index” will be up
Think that’s probably right.
We really don’t need them now in the short term. Have to get the starters right and they need reps in tight games to figure out how best to close. That’s priority #1 if only the playoffs matter. The problem with those guys is that they have fewer tools than the guys in front of them. It doesn’t make them useless it means they have their minutes cut for now. A shift or two of Merrill means gravity on one end and getting hunted by Coby White on the other, as well as less time for DM/DG to get reps… Read more »
So what’s the strategy then? Say for example we face the Knicks again (and assuming Mitch Rob is healthy?) Are we just assuming natural player growth will carry us through? Are the more minutes together going to make JA better at grabbing rebounds? Do we have a playbook that will maybe help supplement our starters action? Or are we just praying for player growth? Because that seems lazy from a coaching perspective.
We have that playbook!
It involves Mitchell, Strus, Ice and Vert gang rebounding. Ice and DM have gotten so much better there. We executed well on that end against Jokic, Embiid and Brook L.
We just didn’t do it today, but there’s definitely a playbook and a strategy. Being able to execute it consistently is what March reps are for.
That seems like one option of a playbook. Then what happens if that option fails? And that’s only rebounding. I think someone needs to talk to JB about shapes. I do agree March reps are important for the starters. I’m also not convinced that using this starting group as a battering ram is that effective against decent teams. You need supplemental action while they develop into better players (more so for Mobes and Garland). It’s really a waste otherwise. Last year the excuse was we didn’t have a bench (which I thought was BS). Now we have a bench. This… Read more »
I don’t know about “five productive shifts,” but I know Jones is: (1) 3rd among their available players in total reb % (not counting suspended TT); (2) a 7-footer; and (3) fairly athletic. It’s not crazy to think he could help in a game where the guys you’re playing are getting overpowered on the boards.
That assumes he wouldn’t be any worse than Allen’s bad game? He could help but he likely doesn’t.
By the second half you could see JA was not playing well. No one has to assume anything at the opening tip. You see what’s happening and make an adjustment when necessary. JA has a well known track record of struggling against, big physical centers, though he’s been better this year (against Jokic for example). I assume JB was paying attention last playoffs.
That’s probably why he played 34 minutes and didn’t close
agree, especially on a B2B. fear of subbing is JB’s major problem.
Fedor actually asked about rotations!
What was JB’s excuse?
He only asked about Niang not seeing run
WHATEVER THE CAVS ARE OR ARE NOT DOING AT ALL STAR BREAK——— FRIGGIN CHANGE
Yeah, for anyone claiming overreaction to one loss – this is now 7 straight games in which the team has mostly not played that well, win or lose.
yeah! WTF? why ain’t they shooting 90%
I would simply have Merrill, the best shooter, take every shot
It’s funky as hell now: answer is probably that you have to work this stuff through and it’s better to have it in March than April, but we’re out of sync. Kind of a bummer
74 FRIGGIN REBOUNDS—— THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BS —2-3 POST ALL STAR BREAK ——-“W “ STRUGGLE WIN AGAINST A PATHETIC TEAM——— THE OTHER ON A LAST SECOND 60’ SHOT ———-STILL WAITING FOR OUR “ RHYTHM 🎵 “ TO KICK IN
You gotta tip the cap to Drummond. He was a monster and we didn’t team rebound in that first half
was Drummond decent in his brief stint with the Cavs? as I recall, we traded him for Hardrock, and let him walk, which we have all been gripping about ever since.
He’s one of those guys that randomly kills you because he’s huge and still pretty fast and bouncy for 330 pounds. But he has the BBIQ of a gnat and drives like Niang. Usually hurts a lot more than he helps.
Absolutely classic trap game.
Okily Dokily!
Fucking ridiculous.
Refs blow a foul call where the Bulls players trip over each other.
They need to outlaw taking two straight timeouts.
Not quite as good as they appeared during long stretch w favorable schedule. Back to backs. Life is short. Move on to thinking about taking care of business against future opponents. Forget about this one.
LeVert overclubbed.
Cavs make 22 3’s and still loose.. smh, defense wins game.. and closing the defensive possession is key.
Game. Bummer. Later y’all!
This might be the least effort I’ve seen the Cavs put in since LeBron and it isn’t close. I know they’re tired they played last night but good God I’ve never heard of a team getting 60 plus rebounds. Let alone 70
They need to pick up a guy they can rebound in the buyout market.
They’ll get TT back after suspension.
Yeah that’s probably enough for weird ones like this
Stop commenting from the sideline, JB.
Every loss on the coach (somehow??) every win on the players and if we had only played Sam Merrill we’d be undefeated no doubt
I mean pretty much. They win in spite of JB IMO.
I don’t understand your maniacal need to defend the coaching from every legitimate criticism.
perhaps a natural reaction to notstop criticism.
Then where are all the Niang apologists?
It was nonstop praise when they were winning, then they stopped doing the things that were winning them ballgames for no logical reason.
Because we have a dogshit record with replacing coaches and because he does more good than bad. Further, the criticism is largely lazy groupthink that 31 other teams share.
He’s fine. Like he’s basically Brendan Malone seven years ago.
You mean Michael Malone?
Yeah that’s who I meant. My b.
Ty Lue says hello!
All we did when Ty Lue was here was bitch about how stubborn he was and how he didn’t help build good habits for the playoffs.
I don’t remember that nor do I remember you being a part of this community then. My only complaint re: Lue (that I can recall from almost a decade ago) was the firing of Blatt, which at the time I thought was lame. Lue also had a short window to prove himself which he did. JB gets an extended runway for some reason when they’re trying to win.
Largely that was the Cavs Twitter complaint.
Two disappointing playoff runs as the firing line seems fair for a team this young. I think that was more rope than Monty had in PHX less than JKidd or Doc.
Why is JA coming in? Do we need to foul another 3 point shooter?
When JB loses to the Pistons on Friday for running his starters into the ground his seat will get a little hotter.
The Bulls starters played more and their only sub out was due to Vuc fouling out
White played 50 minutes DDR 48 wyd???
The Bulls are missing 18 players.
We aren’t trying to be the Bulls. We have a deeper bench. We are on a b2b w 2OTs. Make it make sense.
Our bench guys played a ton! Very played 38, Ice 24, Wade / Niang 25
Does Wade/Niang count as one player?
87 minutes of bench play vs 64.
DeRozan one of my least favorite players ever.
Strus the only one playing with his head this ot.
DeRozan: 15 FT Attempts (13-15
Cavs: 9-17 FT Attempts (Mobley 2-6)
A disappointing fade.
Drummond 25 Rebounds
Vucevic: 13
DeRozan: 11
49 rebounds together, while the Cavs have 38 as a team.
Bulls have 6 players with 5+ rebounds. ..
The Cavs have zero points in 2OT. Not surprised.
Garland can’t go for the ball there? Fuck these refs.
While I agree, can’t hang this one on the refs. JA was a complete disaster, amongst a few others like DM and DG
JA has 4 REBOUNDs in 34 minutes, now that’s crazy.. while the two other centers have 25 and 13 respectively.
Allen and Mitchell rough today. DG looked good, Mobley had some stuff going too
Maybe someone will get hurt and JB will realize he has a bench again?!
DeMar never stops working the refs.
The bulls announcers are going absolutely giggle crazy at how dominant the bulls are on the boards
Run a fucking play.
I’m done with this game.. rebounds coming back to kill us…
This game is over!
Can’t wait for the day that JB is canned!
Do. Something. Different.
