Live Thread: Cavs vs Rockets
2025-11-19Biggest test of the season for the Cavaliers, with the 9-3 Rockets in town. Rockets and rickets are two things that legitimately scare me, so this will be big. Houston, is big, athletic, range, and can defend and rebound. They will be without DFS and Tari Easin not to mention FVV who is out for the year. Cleveland lost Merrill to a wrist sprain and will also be without Strus, Garland, and Tyson. However the latter two may be back by Saturday.
I’m hoping the Cavs’ Secretary of Energy, Nae’Qwan Tomlin and the full court press wunderkind, Craig Porter Junior bring the energy tonight so the starters can hold serve and the bench can win on the margins. I also hope Evan Mobley can focus in the first 45 minutes, cause he was a mess till the end last game. Rebounding and execution will be key, cause Houston feasts off turnovers. Go Cavs.

DOING 👍💪 BUCKAROO—- HELPING COACH 2 VARSITY BB🏀 TEAMS THIS YEAR— 1st GAME TOMORROW ( WE ARE UNDEFEATED SO FAR 🤪) “ THE “ MRS NOMAD ENJOYING IT —- LESS TIME FOR ME AT HOME—- YES KUDOS TO JB — HAS PISTON s PLAYING GREAT BALL
mobley has a very serious neurological condition.. no known cure, once the individual becomes symptomatic, it is a sad progressive decline in functionality.. however, the news is not all bad, some are known to be immune to its ravages.. it’s called “badcontract-itis” also known as “money-on-da-brain:.. look at those pistons romp.. i guess jb is a genius after all.. yo NOMAD bro.. hope you are doing well hombre
AGREED ALSO ON THE CAVS SCHEDULE—WE HAVE PLAYED 3 MORE GAMES THAN SOME TEAMS WITH FEWER STARTERS:/ MAJOR ROLE PLAYERS ——- 1 GUY WHO “ BRINGS THE FIRE 🔥 “ IS STRUS — WE MISS THIS FROM HIM —- TIMETABLE ON HIM BEING BACK???
SOME VERY GOOD POSTS BY EVERYONE—-YOU GUYS BROUGHT YOUR “ A “ GAME— HOPEFULLY THE CAVS DO THE SAME TONIGHT 👍👍👍
Simmo, I also said this on bluesky the other day. I also said this on bsky. I think Allen secretly dislikes playing with Mobley, but loves Mobley the person. Things Mobley can do on offense that Allen doesn’t (shooting, ball handling, driving) Evan doesn’t do so well that it makes him better than Allen offensively. Allen is just as good a passer, less turnover prone in the dribble hand-off game, and a MUCH better finisher with either hand. Dude’s literally the most efficient finisher in the NBA. Mobley wastes a lot of possessions trying to do too much, while JA… Read more »
I’m heading to Cleveland for the game tonight. Hoping to see a great W.
LFG need the CtB mojo in the house!!!
Was coaching a running group a few years back, we had a really talented young woman in the squad who could blow the doors off anyone with very little training. Problem was, she wasn’t interested – even though she was turning up to training, the races, doing everything she was asked of. Results did not come. We had the chat: “Do you want to win?”. Her reply “I WANT to want to win…but….”.
I may be wrong, but I’ve seen this in Mobley for a while.
good eye. let’s hope that Mobley is one of the players who develops a “everything to win” attitude as he gets older, before he is past his prime. one place you see this a lot is with baseball pitchers — kids who get to the big time on natural throwing talent, and then (often after an injury) realize they better learn to pitch if they want to stick around/become great.
I don’t see that. He strikes me as Neuro atypical and highly analytical. He is vacillating between thinking too much and then acting decisively with bad instincts. The game hasn’t slowed down for him yet in his new role. But also, these guys are very tired and it’s affecting their possession to possession consistency and what I described above is also an example of mental fatigue. Through Wed, they’d played as many games as anyone: 15 in 37 nights. That’s a ton of travel too. Kenny called it out post game. I think he’s figuring it out, but people need… Read more »
agree with Raffy and NOMAD — Mobley’s path to superstar level has hit something. Don’t know if “something” is a temporary bump, a dead end, or somewhere in between, but right now he doesn’t look as good as last year. if everyone is healthy and the team finds its groove, they can win it with Mobley playing as is, but things are not as rosy as I had anticipated. bummer. meanwhile, the AI Bots over at King Clueless Gospel are still advocating a small ball plan — giving away Allen, moving Mobley to center, and whatever. at this moment many… Read more »
Yeah I’ve never really been on the “trade Allen” wagon. Mobley is really a 4 and not as good a 5 as Allen. This assumes Allen is on his game – he’s been up and down this year. But overall I agree that this team can’t trade away size given that they don’t have any in the backcourt with Garland and Mitchell.
right, Allen is playing with a broken finger.
AGREED RAFFY — MAYBE NOT LIKE THE PERSON ( SENGUN ) — BUT HAVE TO LIKE HIS GAME — ALOT OF LOW POST ARSENAL AND HE PLAYS WITH “ AN EDGE- -CHIP “ WHICH I WISH MOBES DID
AGREED RAFFY —- GOOD PLAYER— NOT THE SUPER STAR THAT WE WANTED/ HOPED FOR—- HE IS STILL YOUNG—WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE “ FIRE 🔥 IN HIS EYES—- GET PISSED OFF OCCASIONALLY 🤬🤬
If you look at Sengun (sp?), he’s so much more polished offensively. He has a real big man post-up game. With Mobley, you see him charging down the lane, then doing a few pivots/pump fakes, but there isn’t the same type of polish to the finishing. His jumper is decent but inconsistent. He misses free throws. The point here is that Sengun is a more consistent offensive player than Mobley.
Mobley still has a ton of value defensively and is overall a good to very good player, but the trajectory towards actual star status isn’t happening.
We keep waiting for Mobley to make a real leap – doesn’t seem to be happening.
“ OTT WAS ALOT “ 👍👍——— CAVS SHOULD/ NEED WIN THE NEXT 2 GAMES
AGREED NATE —— NEEDS TO GET OUT OF HIS FUNK——. HE NEEDS TO BE CHALLENGED—- POSTED LAST WEEK ( OF COURSE KJG RAN A COLUMN FROM THE POST) — THINK CAVS MISS JORDAN OTT – ALOT – ESPECIALLY MOBES —- HE WOULD HAVE NEVER ALLOWED THAT IB PASS vs HEAT LAST WEEK
Lol. If I still had time to write recaps, one of today’s title possibilities is “Was Jordan Ott the secret sauce?”
Sorry. Went to my pick up my kid and missed the whole fourth quarter.
ADAMS STILL A BEAST ON THE BOARD s ——- NYQUIL HASNT HIT A 3 YET THIS YEAR
Mobley’s lack of focus is really becoming a problem.
NOT SURPRISED BY REBOUNDING DIFFERENCE—- SENGUN OUTPLAYED MOBES —- IF THIS WAS A “ BAROMETER “ GAME —- CAVS HAVE SOME WORK TO DO ——- HOW MANY HOME GAMES – REGULAR SEASON— DID WE LOSE ALL LAST YEAR
18/30 free throw%
Yeah.
60% from the line, against a physical team. Ugh
Argh Mobley that’s a fatal bad pass.
TWO WAY WADE
Worthwhile challenge? Not sure given situation
Looks like KA’s first miss
it was a bad idea
This has been a great game by the Cavs. I know they got down but it wasn’t effort.
It was a really bad last 7 minutes.
all it took was me insulting their manhood and they showed up.
Some fun induced by scrappiness!
Tomlin gotta go up stronger than that
Not sure that’s a Wade foul
CPJ leads in rebounds
There we go.
Will DM show up?
Soft…………………………………….
Cavs need to elbow these guys in the ribs when they go over the back.
I’d consider some Nance and Bryant in the second half
Definitely more Bryant in fairly short bursts
The Yips
Not sure how much better this would be w Sam and DG available. These guys are huge and aggressive, and refs not calling much of it.
Happy w any starters not named Hunter or Tomlin?
Allen. Mobley when he’s not out of control and playing soft. (Needs to use his fouls).Ball’s inability to pressure the basket hurts.
knocked his face off.
Not JA, the earlier one
What was the tech for?
Showing up the ref. It was a good call.
Okay. We’re not getting legible announcements fr the refs
Cavs have the yips.
It would be better if Wade weren’t a zero on offense.
I’ll take it but Tomlin didn’t shove anyone
Tomlin backing down to no one. Love it
Well, if we were looking for a guy that might give us an attitude, some edge…maybe Nyquan is that guy.
Need it
KIND OF WHAT I FEARED—- HOPED I WAS WRONG
Cavs are playing hard. But they have the yips. DM is sandbagging for second half. They got this
Not showing any replays. What happened?
And ref #3 doesn’t lean into mic so can’t hear him.
.
Sin-Goon
Cavs gotta hit shots. Dean sucking didn’t help
Feels like a couple seasons ago where the Cavs got down 20 early and had to dig out every game.
Not gonna happen against this team
Thank God for CPJ
Even the made free throws are an adventure.
Wade with the yips.
GOTTA KEEP IT CLOSE—- LFG CAVS
Nice that Tomlin held his own against giant starters. Love his energy and aggression (so far).
Dean has to step up and take a charge there
Lonzo should not be putting up that shot that early
Ball don’t lie.
Dumb
Very
OMG. This review is ridiculous.
Total crap call. KD lands and then decides to fall after he realizes he’s on top of Hunters shoes.
And Hunter mkoved all of two inches.plus was shoved into him.
Mobley much more decisive tonight.
lFG!
Filthy dribble move, Mitchell.
Iso Hunter.
Sweet shit Dre.
Great board work Tomlin.
A little silly they’re listing Tomlin at guard when Hunter is going to be the secondary ball handler.
And Sengun is mauling him to start (while traveling)
Soooo many travels by the rockets already
Iman Shumpert in the house for the pre-introductions Excalibur move
