The Cavs are in the Big Apple to take on Eastern Conference arch-nemesis New York Knicks to kick off the NBA Christmas showcase. The Cavs have found some offensive footing after bum-slaying the New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets. Now they have a real test and supposedly Evan Mobley may be back. Let’s see what the good guys got!
Tip off is scheduled for 12:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted nationally on ABC and ESPN, Go Cavs!
Garland choked the entire 4th quarter away and took the ball out of Mitchell’s hands even though he was the only one who could get to the rim and 3/4 possessions he ran point it led to a score.
Great job by Kenny to make zero adjustments too.

Thought this was a great game. Yes, Cavs lost. 2 weeks ago they’d have been blown out. Main thing I liked was the ambition – not just from Mitchell but the teamwork. They prepped for this marque matchup. Eg, Mobley only just back from an injury but receiving lobs for dunks from Spida. Yeah there’s a lotta things to iron out, but let’s face it – had the Cavs won, we’d all be feeling pretty pretty smug, like things are gonna work out. And so would the players. C’mon man. Robinson is legitimately top 2 at this…he does it to everyone, and we played him well for a half. Allen just sucks against him.
Tomlin and Bryant would have been good choices there. I like Tomlin with the ball up top against Mitch and fighting him for boards.

Ball is weirdly low IQ. Garland much better at managing h the game. Going for home run stuff up 15 in the second was just really poor.
CPJ generally can’t do much offensively but he doesn’t go high risk either.
Like the idea of Tomlin and Bryant getting minutes over Allen at times

What a bummer. Mitchell needs to be better in the 4Q. Numbers were good but missing 3 layups and some inexplicable defensive choices to help off Kolek.
I feel like we have had had games like this (Game 6 against Orlando) where the numbers are there but he just gets to a weird space where he doesn’t trust anyone, not even Sam or Evan, and it costs.
No shots for the bigs late really.
Tyson Wade and Mobley probably need to close games against more physical teams.

I came into this game fearing the Knicks matchup but I saw more of the same: our offense getting whatever it wanted – shot quality was very much in our favor – and some lineups that are capable of counteracting NY physicality
I don’t know what to do about Allen, who is our best screener and roll guy and should help in the early fourth.
But Donovan got like five layups in a row to start the quarter so iono. Make or miss, and Brunson outplaying Mitchell in the clutch was the difference.

7:25 mark of the 4th, Cavs up 12, don’t get another rebound until the 2:51 mark, Knicks get within 2, out rebounding Cavs 8-0, 5 on the offensive glass and at that point everyone could see what was eventually coming…
