2025-12-29The march towards 2026 continues, Cavs fans. Unfortunately, I don’t see a win in the cards tonight as the Cavs don’t seem to want to change what isn’t working, and the Spurs are coming off a very disappointing loss to the Jazz that will have them energized to right the wrongs.
Meanwhile, the Cavs have only Strus and Nance remaining on the injury report while De’Aaron Fox is is reportedly a game time decision for the Spurs. I’d be surprised if the Cavs got this one. I think the Christmas hangover continues and will continue until they do something to shake themselves out of therdoldrums. Whether that means a new coach, a shakeup to the starting lineup, or a trade remains to be seen. We’ll see what the new year brings. Go Cavs.

He’s still limited to the 50 games I think.
Hayes isn’t eligible for a 2 way, which complicates things bc he’s probably at least better than Travers.
Unless he projects to be better than Proctor, his only path to a Cavs roster spot is dumping Ball for nothing coming back, since Qwan is definitely getting a standard contract.

If he’s found his shot he’s worth a flyer as a reclamation project and a bridge between Ball and Proctor.
Key ? Is where is he getting the shots from? Tomlin’s 3P% is about 10 points lower with the Cavs than with the Charge so I’d ask if Hayes is getting NBA role player shots or just shooting himself into a rhythm while dominating the ball.

I dont care about Ball one way or another, i just think casuals love to use him as a scape goat when the biggest reason why we suck is because we have 2.5 underachieving all stars. as we saw last night, this team will only go as far as the core 4 take them. But morons gonna complain regardless of the facts, such is life
One game is just one game, but you see Kenny and Don and Darius getting on the same page.
Up 10, Don clanks a heat check and immediately gets pulled so Darius can run offense. Nothing special happened during that stretch but we got better shots (off some very close near-turnovers breaking the SA press) and Don got the message when he got back in.
Is this game a referendum for more CPJr? Notice the climate change with him and Tyson in the game at the same time.

Driving up for Suns/Nuggets/Pistons. Hoping for some hard-fought wins, or perhaps more realistically, at least hard-fought games without embarrassment.
Ball and Nance can definitely move more into the Tristan zone (though perhaps not completely, just yet). CPJ and Tomlin (w respectively some Proctor and Bryant as needed) can take those minutes.

Tomlin looks 100% different when he catches the ball ready to shoot vs waiting to make the right play, realizing he’s open, and then loading / firing.
All the team had to be was healthy and have depth. Why? Core 4 is always great together but it gives guys freedom to attack and realize they don’t have to do it alone: Merrill and Mitchell and Garland couldn’t shoot it but you have Tyson and Wade and others available to step up for you.
