I want to highly reccommend everyone get a yearly dermatological “skin map” where they examine and take notes on anything out of the ordinary. anything that changed from last year is trouble. I get everything blasted off with liquid nitrogen.

best option is for him to stay and figure it out…he’ll at least get playoff run to establish value. if he moves to a worse team at the deadline then his next contract will reflect that he got outplayed by a two-way guy! but one hot game at DET or NYK in the playoffs would get him paid.
best option for the Cavs is to move him for an under utilized cheaper player who has PoA defense. My dream would be Ayo Dosummu but you could probably live with a Taurean Prince or Gary Trent Jr.

We can’t be on this “only losses count not wins” – vibes are just low. If you get Garland and Strus healthy and in sync before the playoffs it’s fine.
I just don’t want to keep having the worst game of the season every five games. Cut that ish out and we are a 50’win team even this year.
I mean the regular season win “total” doesn’t matter. But KA having a blueprint for how this roster will function best against playoff level competition does. I think that’s what not yet clear enough for comfort. Injuries partly explain why, but not fully.
Relax. Look at the progress being made. Cavs shot 100% on their free throws!

There are like maybe six complete games this year. It’s not encouraging and it’s not early, but tread water until the ASB and then make a run.
Our preparation and execution suck right now. Does that mean we can’t win a 4/5 series with Toronto or Philly (or a 6/3 road series) and a second round road series against Detroit? This might be a 23-24 type year where we advance but it’s not pretty.
Not seeing the trap game coming and sleepwalking into it stinks. Very very bad execution and shotmaking and just did not have the energy to try and find another way to win. Bouncing from “best win of the season” to “ridiculous disaster” every five days is the worst. Optimism is grounded in the ceiling being high, and none of the issues unfixable…but I expected this team to grow up a bit and it very much hasn’t happened. It is just so strange to me that, with the small “core” backcourt of Spida and DG already creating an inherent defensive issue to work around, the Cavs are wildly leaning “into” playing small at 3 or 4 positions instead of just the 2. For example Merrill at the 2 alongside Spida “or” DG but not both, with Hunter or Tyson or even Lonzo if necessary at the 3, is ultimately better than asking Merrill to spend a lot of time guarding 6’10 guys. it is usually smart to avoid panic moves. but it is starting to look like he can’t keep up with what the league is evolving to, and how teams are playing the Cavs.
BTW, most of you have probably noticed how most of the teams that made the NFL playoffs had the youngest head coaches by far. is this a fluke? is it relevant to the NBA?
We haven’t run out the same starting lineup for more than four games in a row IIRC. That’s bad. And Kenny is bad at in game adjustments.
Changing coaches is always a low risk play.

Simple fact is we were never going to go far in the playoffs with this backcourt. But the front court regression is so troubling.

And FWIW, GSW went nowhere with Steph until Kerr replaced Jackson and immediately put Green (toughness, ball movement, defense). Just sayin’. And Klay, Iggy, and Livinston were all long and good defenders.
Also, Chris, GSW never played that small. Come on. With Dray at the 5, but he was great on the glass & on D.
Curry is 6’2″. Thompson is 6’5″ and a good defender. Iggy was 6’6″ and an excellent defender. Livingston was 6’7″. That is GSW 1.0’s backcourt.

Oh I was very high on the Hunter trade and have to eat crow now, bc no question in my mind it’s proven to be a bad deal seeing how it’s gone; and, also recognizing that what’s gone awry is similar to the things Hunter’s detractors were saying about his Atlanta tenure. Okoro I don’t second-guess, nor choosing to invest in Merrill rather than Ty (considering Ty appears headed to missing an entire season for the second time in 3 years).
I will take Merrill over Ty anyday. Okoro I would like to have back.
