Live Thread: Pistons @ Cavs 2026-03-03 Off By Chris Francis Sorry for the late LT, Part Deux of Pistons/Cavs! Live Thread: Cavs @ Nets Live Thread: Celtics @ Cavs
Well, b2b inciming. Win the next two and we are lokely within striking distance of Boston & NY and if Detroit stumbles a bit, who knows?
yup, same
Nets hang on in Detroit after trailing by 23. 3L in a row for Pistons
No Cade no Ausar (and no Maxey – I think – , VJ or Embiid for Philly)
Gotta stack wins
AGREED WITH RAOUL—- WHY I AM RECOVERING/ REHABBING FROM KNEES SURGERY RIGHT NOW—- WALKED 1/2 MILE TODAY 👍💪
WE ARE DISTRICT CHAMPIONS 👍🏀💪
Allen doing on court work today. Vuc out for a month.
FTS HAS GOOD ARTICLE ON THE CHARGE / COACHES/, PLAYERS/ BEING SUCCESSFUL
as I was reading it, I was reflecting on how much excellent stuff FTS has, most of it coming from just a couple writers.
I lurk. But Realcavsfans>>>FTS>>>CtB>>>>getting hit by a car>>>King James Gospel
dunno, gettingHitByACar gets old fast!
So, probably: Harden, Mitchell, Merrill/Tyson, Wade, Mobley vs Boston.
Bench: Schröder, Ellis, Tyson/Merrill, Bryant.
Maybe some Tomlin or CPJ.
Mitchell and Wade full participants in practice, Strus 90% (!), Allen not practicing but KA reiterates not long term thing
excellent Jackson Flickinger deep dive on the Hardin / Merrell interaction at FTS:

DAY 4 POST SURGERY—— HAVE STARTED TO WALK ABOUT 1/4 MILE WITH A WALKER—- CLIMBING UP / DOWN STAIRS—- GETTING IN / OUT OF CAR ——- ROM ( range of motion) EXERCISES ——- EVERYONE HERE IS FANTASTIC—— THIS IS FOR NATE ( HAD 4 “ EXPLOSIVE “ BOWEL MOVEMENT s 👍👍👍👍) —— AGAIN THANK s TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS/ SUPPORT/ CONCERN 👍🙏👍🙏👍🙏
Wow. “Wham with the right hand!” post. Strong work … In oh so many ways.
I had to go 50 yards with a walker to get out of the hospital, on a late Friday afternoon. About a dozen employees showed up, and a big cheer erupted when I made it. I realized I must be the only patient in here, and everyone gets to go home early.
TATUM EXPECTED TO PLAY TONIGHT—-,DOUBT HE PLAYS ON SUNDAY?????
IDK, they don’t have any b2b coming up.
I’d expect him to play, barring any setbacks. Albeit on a minutes restriction of some kind.
4-3 on the “Tough Ten” so far, but the injuries cost us a game (Mil) and we threw another away (Det).
Still in contact with everyone save OKC/Det/SA. A win over Boston would make them catchable. The L column with remaining SOS rank:
15: OKC (3rd), Det (25th)
17: SA (18th)
————-
21: Boston (7th)
22: Houston (11th)
23: NY (27th), Minny (3rd)
24: Cavs (28th), Den (1st), Lakers (9th).
Det lost to the Spurs by 15 tonight.
Tatum back makes Boston the favorites in the East.
We’ll get data soon enough, Boston is the only contending team with a reasonably tough closing schedule.
Horford and Kornet and Jrue were the big problems for us matchup wise…it’s still going to be a big lift for NQ, Vuc and the non-Jay wings.
While we wait and the team rests…if you haven’t seen it – here’s Shump telling us what we always suspected was true.

Shump is a good interview/commentator. Windhorst has had him on several times and he’s got great insight. I tend to roll my eyes at a lot of the former players looking to cash with half-ass analysis, but Shump is legit.
His take on the Harden/DG trade was mind numbingly stupid.
I wrote him off at that point.
But still has riom to grow.
That’s unfortunate. Well, the couple times I’ve listened to him he’s come off pretty thoughtful, not just a hot take machine.
TOTALLY AGREE—- IF CAVS ARE HEALTHY COME PLAYOFF s —THEY CAN COMPETE/ BEAT ANYONE——- DAY 2 POST SURGERY/ WALKED FOR 12 MINUTES—-THERAPY EXERCISEs FOR ANOTHER 7 MINUTES——KNEE HIGHs / KNEE CURLS/ HEEL SLIDES —-GREAT STAFF HERE 👍🦵
From the NOMAD files.
HOW did I miss this!?!? #respect
BELIEVE IF HE GETS A SOLID 7 GAMES- HE SHOULD BE OK
Do we still think Strus is going to play significant postseason minutes? Only 19 regular season games left to get reintegrated into the schemes and rotation, and up his conditioning to be ready for playoff intensity. For a vet, “should” still he enough time if he’s physically healthy, but can’t delay too much longer.
my guess is yes.
I hope so.
But with Harden here + Tyson’s emergence, we have more SF/SG options. Harden is bigger than Max and can defend up a spor or two or even three.
Still, Strus is still the most balanced/well rounded 2/3 we we have, IMHO. Though Tyson at his best is probably better. Wade & Ellis & are better on but don’t give you much scoring or playmaking. Merrill is a better shooter but not a defender or playmaker.
Alex Caruso was out from Mar. 3 to playoffs last year.
Big 4: Mitchell, Harden, Allen, Mobley
Circle of Trust/Main Rotation: Strus, Wade, Merrill, Tyson, Schröder, Ellis
That’s 10.
Edge of rotation/if needed: CPJ, Bryant, Tomlin
Deep bench: Proctor, LNJ
2 way: Minix, Enaruna, Sarr.
I trust all the rotation guys a lot, and least in their strong suits. Strus is a streaky shooter and Schröeder can hijack the O at times, but they still give good D even then.
Not always as confident in COJ, Bryant, and Tomlin, but they certainly can, and have, been helpful more often than not.
good analysis
Cavs waived 2 way G Darius Brown & signed C Olivier Sarr to a 2 way deal.
Good win, borderline great considering no Spida, Wase, & JA going down. Best game in a Cavs uni from Schröder. Best game in weeks for Tyson. Bryant & Porter really came up big. Ellis is the King of Stocks & Chaos. We took great care of the ball thru 3 quarters (3 TOs). Harden was not great tonight, that thumb cannot be helping. But he has a gravity to him that DG simply did not. Even in an off night. We are 8-1 when he plays. 7 4th quarter TOs and JA getting hurt were the real bummers. We have… Read more »
Detroit never led in the second half.
Total control from wire to wire even though Pistons shot out of their minds in 1H.
Mobley being super aggressive and bringing it home in the clutch.
So much firepower in street clothes.
Now just gonna root for health
Just a bruise or something to JA’s knee, I hope? (knock on wood). Nice to see Jaylon with a step-up game after a quiet stretch; team-high 22 pts, 4 assists and a couple of blocks. Mobley’s improved shooting from everywhere but the line since his injury absence continues: 55.6% FG and 40% 3PT (8-20) in six games since his return, compared to 51.6%/31% for the season overall. CPJ with almost half the team’s o-boards! Dennis with his best box score as a Cav, nice bounce-back after his play looked so rough in the OT loss.
Had no business winning this game, shot worse, outrebounded, but 3pt shots got us over the hump. I’ll take it
Took great care of the ball thru 3 (3 TOs), got up more shots, played good D on Cade.
Totally agree with your shout outs. Those four guys really played well and contributed.
WHO PUT THE CLAMPS ON CADE ——— KA ALLOWING NYQUIL TO SIT / FIGURE IT OUT—— ANY PROGNOSIS ON JA
I can’t confirm this but have read Tyson guarded Cade a lot in this game and did it well, anyone who watched, how did that matchup look?
Ellis some, too.
Oh the 4th qtr officiating. Ugh
HAS PROCTOR PLAYED—— HE HAD 29 YESTERDAY FOR CHARGE IN LIKE 23 MINUTES
No
WHY KA SHOULD HAVE SIGNED A BIG YESTERDAY
We signed a French guy
Some NBA exp with OKC. 3 years.
THESE IINJURIES ARE EFFFING BS 🤬🤬🤬
Has Nance now descended into full Tristan status? Minus Wade and now JA, does an other big besides Evan and TB play?
appears so,
Great play by CPJ to salvage that play and extend the lead to close the quarter.
Cavs are such shitty rebounders that I root for opponents to make their second FT.
LOL for real
JA injured. JFC never ending.
Good… JB’s coach’s challenge. It’ll probably stand and be upgraded to a flagrant foul knowing JB’s track record.
Cavs never seem to capitalize off of chances like that.
Not sure worth challenging this one
Minix on the bench. has he played yet?
GOT TO RUN THEM OFF THE LINE!!!
Go Cavs!
