Live Thread: Cavs vs Timberwolves
2026-10-26The Minnesota Timberwolves have ripsawed their way to a 3-0 record with a whopping 23.3 point point differential, leading all three win teams in the association. Further empowering them, is the fact that they’ve done this to Cleveland’s peers: Toronto, Orlando, and Heat. The wine and gold’s only saving grace is that Minny is tail ending a back to back this evening while Cleveland has only played two games so far (and has looked sluggish doing it).
The Cavs have Tomlin on the injured list, but no others of note while Ant is a game time decision for the Wolves. That’s a big deal, as Edwards leads them with 28.7 a game while the T-Wolves sport six other players scoring at least nine a game. The key, as it has been in all recent games, will be not turning the ball over against the lightning quick Wolves, and getting Gobert in foul trouble, which Allen can tend to do.
I personally don’t have a lot of confidence in the Beard and Co. to both slow down Minnesota defensively while keeping the scoring pressure on. Hopefully Cleveland leans into Jaylen Tyson and Tyrese Proctor, and at least makes Minnesota dip the margin below 20. Go Cavs.
Just got back from the game…. Merrill getting minutes over Proctor is an atrocity.

I don’t have an issue with Merrill over proctor, but I have a big issue with Merrill over Tyson or Allen down the stretch.
I was a bit surprised how little JA was deployed late in the game. Basically coming in for defense on free throws. Also a bit surprised that Harden was on floor when team defense needed to be its absolute best (instead of say Tyson).
With nice contributions from newcomers, team can be pretty effective when Harden has a pulse (…which took awhile to be felt tonight).
Some nice adjustments by Kenny to get the ball out of Ant’s hands even a little.
For such a tough shotmaker and gifted passer LaMelo…I don’t know…but that French kid was awesome.
Anyway, great win, Meleek winning the backup PG role in one shift was awesome – we have a huge rotation now.

Cavs fought it out well. Took care of the ball for the most part. Also while the Wolves were on a B2B, they played 14 players yesterday (10 tonight). Ball only played 16 min, Edwards 27 min in an easy win over the Raps.

Watson driving with confidence. A lot to like.
Even better when you consider how much energy he is exerting on the other end guarding Edwards. Edward’s has had a good game and the Cavs aren’t doing a ton on the defensive end but Watson’s definitely forced him into a few tough shots that he’s just made.
